About this deal

The top-notch werewolf horror still packs a punch with how effective it is and has barely aged a day. I knew of Sean Pertwee and Kevin McKidd and liked their portrayals, and thought the remainder of the actors, particularly Darren Morfitt as "Spoon", were top notch as well. The Second Sight version will just keep you a little bit busier thanks to the deleted scenes and the booklet, and it will also look far prettier on your shelf.

Neil Marshall’s ‘making of’ insight hits an hour or so, and I think there’s a mix of old and new interviews entwined into a single package. From Reputable UK Company With 30 Years Experience In Retail, Please Note Not All Our New Items Are Shrink Wrapped. Dog Soldiers also has an enormous sweeping score by Mark Thomas that pushes it up a level, so once the idle chat disappears, the ghost stories and looming risks make up for that early stuff as well as a great jump scare. Marshall cast professional dancers in the role of the werewolves instead of taking the traditional stuntman route because he wanted them to appear graceful on screen.

The numerous references (or tributes) to other films such as "Aliens" and "The Matrix" were fun to spot. But their night is about to get worse because the werewolves have followed them and it's only a matter of time before dinner is served. Marshall makes a film that’s as effective as something with a big studio budget, both imaginative and in its execution. Yes, I've watched " Dog Soldiers" a number of times and own 3 copies of it ( DVD, Scream Blu, and Koch (German) MediaBook Blu). The first Blu-ray release in 2009 utilized an aging master that was originally created for the DVD, and it simply couldn’t hold up to high-definition scrutiny. They were also wise enough to keep most of the wolfies hidden, giving only brief glances at times, until the end pretty much.

With the exception of the Photo Gallery, the rest of the extras date back to the 2003 DVD from Pathe that was released in the UK. We reviewed the Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Dog Soldiers on a Panasonic TX-65HZ1000B Ultra HD 4K TV with a Panasonic DP-UB450 Dolby Vision HDR10+ 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Marshall assembled a stellar cast for Dog Soldiers, headlined by Kevin McKidd, Sean Pertwee, Liam Cunningham, and Emma Cleasby. The newly-recorded commentary track features Allison Peirse, who is an associate professor at the University of Leeds, as well as the author of four books including Women Make Horror: Filmmaking, Feminism, Genre. Review System: Denon AVR-X4300H, MK Sound LCR750 and SUR55T, XTZ S2 Atmosphere ceiling mounted, SVS PB-12 Ultra. There are new and old extras, on the UHD and in Dolby Vison, as well as a whole bunch of material in the form of a booklet and cards if you go for the limited edition set. Digitally there are no compression issues, the source is clean and bright, and that beautiful grain structure give a wonderful filmic presentation. I’ve been a fan of Clover’s work since 1992, but I’ve never though of Dog Soldiers in these terms before, so I’m grateful for what Peirse has accomplished here. I’ve always said that Marshall’s greatest strength as a horror/action director is that he makes the violence not only count, but he actually makes it look like it hurts too. For those on the fence about an upgrade, I would certainly suggest you go for it, there are enough new extras to go for, and I honestly do not see there being a better release of the film than this one coming.

Soldiers – A Look At The Making Of DOG SOLDIERS Featuring Interviews With Director Neil Marshall, Producers Christopher Figg And Keith Bell, Actors Kevin McKidd, Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Leslie Simpson And Emma Cleasby, Special Effects Artist Bob Keen, And More! British label Second Sight has detailed its upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of Neil Marshall's thriller Dog Soldiers (2002), starring Sean Pertwee, Kevin McKidd, Emma Cleasby, Liam Cunningham, and Darren Morfitt. They do spend some time talking about another commentary track that isn’t included with this edition (more on that later), so like Marshall’s commentary, there’s some dated or inaccurate information here. Either way, these are the exact same soundtracks as in previous versions, with identical strengths and weaknesses (including the same loud popping sounds at a couple of points). The characters of the squad are so memorable, their interactions and that gallows humour which feels so natural and organic, give them life.It sounds a bit cheesy but you really get a sense that the soldiers were a brotherhood and that makes what happens to them all the more tragic to watch. I tell everyone who'll listen that this is the best Werewolf Film ever made, the sfx are excellent, hardly any if any cgi, but the werewolves look fantastic. Koven; Werewolves vs Soldiers: The Making of Dog Soldiers with Neil Marshall, Producers Christopher Figg and Keith Bell, Actors Sean Pertwee, Kevin McKidd, Darren Morfitt, Leslie Simpson and Emma Cleasby; Combat: a short film by Neil Marshall, the usual Trailers and Photo Gallery, and also Optional English subtitles for the hearing impaired. Factory attempted to rectify those problems for their 2015 Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, but the results were controversial, to say the least. He solved the problem of how to create convincing transformations by not bothering to show them at all, and Dog Soldiers is none the worse for lacking any—in fact, it’s arguably better, because that helps to maintain the mystique surrounding these particular werewolves.
