This article is within the scope of WikiProject Biography, a collaborative effort to create, develop and organize Wikipedia's articles about people. Constantine notes that the Church Committee hearings established that there were intelligence activities against “restless youth” and celebrities connected with the anti-war movement.

Besides, she was attracted to Doherty, but he "couldn't deal with the weight," according to The Atlantic. All of the information in the article was obtained from verifiable references, as per Wikipedia standards. Finally, Fiegel points out that the press revealed that the bloodwork done after Cass' death revealed NO trace of alcohol or drugs, a highly-improbable result, given her healthy social life and status as a card-carrying member of the counterculture.

I was also looking at Kurt Cobain's main wiki page to see how they dealt with the rumors of his death, and it seems they handled it more on the respected side. Naturally, the police got wind of all of this during their investigation, and in 1970 the San Antonio Express reported that both Cass Elliot and John Phillips were being subpoenaed to testify – in Manson's defense. Largely thanks to the crystalline contralto voice of "Mama" Cass Elliot, the American vocal quartet The Mamas and the Papas enjoyed huge success during the mid-1960s. Did Cass Elliot know something about the Tate-LaBianca murders by the Manson “Family” that resulted in her being a victim of foul play? Jazzorama 01:34, 30 March 2007 (UTC) Reply [ reply ] According to the Courthouse News Service Owen Elliot's father is James Hendricks. Little did anyone know that Elliot, born Ellen Naomi Cohen in 1941 in Maryland, would take the music world by storm. American Singer Cass Elliot was born Ellen Naomi Cohen on 19th September, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and passed away on 29th Jul 1974 Mayfair, London, England, UK aged 32.

Elliot's early life was spent with her family in Alexandria, Virginia, before the family moved to Baltimore, when Elliot was fifteen, and where they had briefly lived at the time of Elliot's birth.

This is just an anecdote from memory and not really something for the encyclopedia article, but it may be of interest to Mama Cass fans: Michelle Philips mentioned in a radio interview a number of years ago that Cass had idolized Barbra Streisand, but would sometimes get a little depressed about not being able to hit some of the high notes that Streisand could easily manage. Miss Elliot, who became famous with the Mamas and the Papas group, became ill suddenly in her Mayfair apartment. And there is no source so far that claims that she was a baroness (and if there is, it would be absurd: Germany is a republic, and has no baronesses; I thought that was common knowledge.
