About this deal

I’ve read nearly all of her comics, and she has been given no motive, dimension, or place within DC, or really even a consistent personality. Readers want fictional characters to be written in the way that they find to be the most interesting. Her passing really affected me deeply and made me reflect both on how much her work means to me and how much it’s been disregarded and spat upon by DC Comics. Paul, you must be rather far through the looking glass of seeing different versions of Harley Quinn since the character debuted, but it still feels notable to see her headline a series like this. Paul, did you come up with the idea and then reach out to Kevin, or did you go to him right from the get go?

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Red (Volume 1 (Digital)) was an 17-issue digital-first limited comic book series that began being published by DC Comics in June 2020. It’s just not good enough to make up for a company that has abused the character of Harley Quinn more than the Joker ever did. Following in the grand tradition of Batman Black and White, Harley Quinn put her own delightfully twisted spin on the limited color concept last year in the DC Black Label anthology series Harley Quinn Black + White + Red.Harley in her jester suit plus a black kitten proves to be a great opportunity for some very delightful art and narrative moments. There was also a conceptually very stylized moment that was meant to demonstrate how Harley felt as if someone’s blood was on her hands, but the simplistic art didn’t provide any sense of surrealism for it.

Mandel: They asked me to do a holiday story and I thought I would do a Hanukkah story, because those are few and far between. Enjoy the largest amateur porn community on the net as well as full-length scenes from the top XXX studios. A sort of daffy optimism mixed with this real reckless side of her that people respond to, especially creators. During yet another break up with the Joker, Harley receives a kitten to help her get back on her feet, as opposed to her getting another boyfriend. The Harley Quinn Black + White + Red collected edition, featuring nineteen stories including “Eight Nights of Harlequin” by David Mandel and Adam Hughes and “Harleen’s Half Dozen (Plus One)” by Paul Dini and Kevin Altieri, is now available in both print and as a digital collection. He draws Harley great, he understands terrific animation and he really got the animated sense that I was going for. Paul Dini: I was sneaking onto the Seinfeld set one night and David kept me from being shot by security guards. It was all a matter of fitting the puzzle pieces together, with Harley as the screwball leader of the gang. So here’s the thing: there’s been a bit of emotional manipulation going on when it comes to discussions on Harley Quinn. was kind of wild because there are very few characters that exist in so many different ways and yet are the same. I don’t really see any benefit in projecting some malicious ulterior motive onto the people who hold this opinion. However, the ending let me down a bit for a story that was overall so adorable, as it concluded on a different note than Harley’s kitten being helpful to her. The problem is that he’s asked to create art that accurately depicts an obnoxious character, and consequently, I thought that the over-exaggerated drawings of Harley screaming and flirting were just that: obnoxious. Well, the only consistent thing about her she’s supposed to have this kooky clown persona still – the persona that was made to match with Joker.

The reason why it frustrates me so much is that DC has spent almost 8 YEARS at this point declaring that Harley Quinn must be her own woman. Dini: It’s gratifying to know that there is a certain spark that’s always been with the character—“I can take anything and keep going.I appreciate the reverence Condon seems to have for the original Mad Love issue by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. In Harley Quinn Black + White + Red , 19 tales of Gotham City's craziest clown princess are presented in nothing but black, white, and bold splashes of red. In stark contrast to the last story, Chris Condon chooses to portray actual Harley Quinn in a scenario that is meant to explore what Harley’s life could’ve been like if she had never become Harley Quinn.
