Just like when you give them a fake phone or keys and they still insist on playing with the real thing. The wooden activity board makes a great gift for preschoolers ages three and older for hands-on, screen-free play. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. So interesting with all the hooks and latches, but a bit hard for her to do independently at 13 months.

I am afraid that my son will get slivers, or that the board will continue to chip and that the board will fall apart. We love interacting with him asking him what color the houses are and how many animals does he see, what sound does that animal make, etc.Obviously, the three-year-old could work it best, but the one-year-old was fascinated with it, and over the next several days he spent hours moving the latches back and forth.

the board is colorful, keeps my grandchild entertained with the different locks and he even plays a game of remembering which animals are under which door. I suspect it may have a limited time appeal for her as she matures and masters the skills, but it is perfect for this time in her development. We make sure we play with it with him and not unattended for now since it does have some sharp edges. This board is a great idea having different latches and doors that open up to reveal animals(w/ varying colors) all on one toy. An excellent distraction to keep him away from testing the security of the safety locks in the kitchen, although I am concerned that his improved dexterity will lead to trouble once he learns how to open more things.

This is definitely one of my favorite projects… mainly because I can duplicate it for my little one. This allows Instagram to associate your visit with potential remarketing tags and reinforce behavioural advertising. It is also great because it is made of wood, so no toxic chemicals, as well as it does NOT make noise! She is not quite old enough to open all the doors on her own but she is catching on quickly and loves playing with the puzzle.

Please fold the paper along the dotted line and place the chart on a hard surface against an immovable vertical surface such as a skirting board to help gain an accurate measure. This item is great for learning different animals, you could use puppets along with the board to make it more engaging. Anything that involves building continued dexterity, especially in the fingers and the mind is great! She really likes handling the latches -- it will take a while for her to figure out how to open the doors though.

I've not opened it to play with it as it is a Christmas gift, but I can see through the cellophane that the catches and latches are really well built, good quality fixings, but all rounded off so no caught fingers. Our 15 mo old received this product as a Christmas present, so there are lots of other toys competing for his attention. We also liked that it would look sort of weathered and authentic that way, like the top of our console table, thanks to using the same method. She feels so proud and accomplished when she unlocks each door, and is already working on learning to luck them back up. Once the primer was dry, I repeated that step with a coat of paint just to give the edge a little slice of color. I bought this for my 2 yr old, although age specific was 3 yrs old but he is able to manipulate the locks and enjoys opening and closing the doors.
