About this deal

I again like the retro Maine setting, and that the milkman's truck seems to make a subtle appearance in every Mr. I was doing mostly editorial work and my illustrations appeared in magazines like Nickelodeon, Family Fun, and Disney Adventures. Magee and his dog, Dee, are enjoying a peaceful camping trip when along comes a lumbering, marshmallow-loving bear and the excitement begins. Before we even read the book, I had the students look at the cover and tell me who they thought the main character was and what the setting was.

Fun, definitely worth a read if you're trying to get psyched for camping, and seems like it would be a good early reader too. Professor Magee has held and holds many managerial and academic posts including; College Tutor, Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Examiner for the University of Oxford, Lead Clinician for Surgery, Divisional Director of Surgery, Chair of the Oxford Regional Blood Transfusion Committee and Member of the National Blood Transfusion Committee. Word-choice-trait- There are some words in the text that students may not know but they are easily explained and have pictures to go with them.Author/illustrator Chris Van Dusen brings humor, adventure, lively language, and richly colored, kinetic illustrations to all of his children’s books. The rhymes are not forced and read naturally, allowing a kid to appreciate the matter of rhyme while still enjoying a clear and crisply told story.

Magee and his loyal sidekick Dee are probably my twins' most loved pair of characters from all of the books we read. Magee and his little dog Dee have yet another silly and unexpected adventure in this new addition to the popular series.Chris Van Dusen books are always a delight, combining playful rhyming text with bright, comical artwork that's alive with color and detail. I read this book to my kids when they were little, and now I use it at school (I'm a school counselor) in classroom guidance lessons. But what begins as a fun day in the sun turns a bit bumpy when onel playful whale decides to say hello. The camper almost goes down a 50 foot waterfall, but the bear thinks the hitch is a marshmallow, so he grabs it and pulls it to shore before realizing it was a dirty, less-than-tasty, hitch instead.

The child may not be able to read at this reading level yet, but he or she can still appreciate the the book and build comprehension. The bear undoes the camper's hitch by accident (trying to reach the marshmallows), and the camper careens down to the river below.

Explore reading basics as well as the key role of background knowledge and motivation in becoming a lifelong reader and learner. The next thing the two campers know, they are plunging down a mountain, racing down a river, and teetering on the edge of a waterfall! This title is one of teachers' favorite fall books that may even inspire camping theme classroom décor! Magee books are certainly not easy to create, Van Dusen published the three existing ones between 2000 and 2010. I'm not sure if you can ask much more than that from a cheerful kids picture book, and this turned out to be a pleasant and rewarding treat. This site offers clearly labeled tabs for types of books and shows the front covers of the books, making it easy for children to choose a book to read.
