At times he addresses the reader directly including some little snippets between some of the chapters. I was thrilled by the cameo from William and Brenda, but I wanted to hear more from them and maybe even Bob and Pamela too.I did laugh out loud when two kids named Buzz and Buddy had taken their dad's car out for a drive (if you didn't know, Buzz and Buddy are Tom Fletcher's kids.

Tom Fletcher's bestselling story is packed with stinkerful black-and-white illustrations by the disgustingly talented Shane Devries and is perfect for kids to read independently or together with a grown-up!Although, I would have liked her to play more of a key role than just the annoying younger one that always tags along. I wasn't surprised at where the adults resided that is a pretty fitting place, plus that way they won't be able to resist much. Now it's not very nice to use little girls as live bait to catch monsters, but, if you do ever have to, then it's always best to use an annoying little sprog like Ella, just in case they do actually end up getting snatched. With no grown ups to enforce any rules, no school and no bedtime, chaos descends as the children of Whiffington town run wild. If I had a niece or nephew, at the correct age, I would like to read this aloud as it would be a very theatrical and funny book. This really added to the book and made me want to continue reading on because it built up the suspension more.

From beginning to end it is a fast-paced page-turner; I was always on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next. So – along with her friends Norman and Ella – Lucy sets off on an unbelievable adventure into a topsy-turvy, back-to-front and inside-out new world . To succeed she's going to have to be brave and venture into the upside down, back to front, topsy turvy world of the woleb that lies beneath her bed. Lucy soon finds that all of the children on her street seem to be facing the same fate – with their parents disappearing as well. No parents mean they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and that they can make all their dreams come true (like the little kid who put sharks into the swimming pool, or the kids who decided that trampolines would be a good idea as transport).
