It’s not often a headphone reveals details about a song that we haven’t heard before but that’s exactly what the DT 1990 Pro did for us. When I first purchased the headphones, I spent some time going between them and settled on the “Analytical” pads that I have used ever since. My only concern is that, after long sessions, the heat around the ears can become a little bit annoying, but it's not a major issue since its root cause can be related to lots of different factors.

The only trouble is that the drivers sit flat and parallel to your head, and are not angled like the Beyerdynamic T1 or the Sennheiser HD800. It's not a 3 blob space, but fairly even distribution of tracks/instrument pieces across the left-center-right pan. That being said, there are people throwing shade at this particular model because of the 8kHz peak (seen in measurements), alongside with others trying them firsthand and finding them "sibilant". The DT1990 sound more transparent all round, including the high frequencies, they are bright but ime without stepping over the line.The immense frequency range of the beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro extends down to an incredible 5Hz, offering a wider audio spectrum than most competitors. The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro feel extremely solid in the hand, like a professional audio tool should. The headphones are adaptable and suitable even for users with changing requirements thanks to the inclusion of two pairs of interchangeable ear pads that provide different sounds. Given their open-back design, they fall into the airy side and give you the impression that you're actually not listening to a pair of headphones at all, which is very impressive to me.

The pace, rhythm and timing of the DT 1990 Pro are truly addicting and, if you’re like us, it’ll be tough to resist the urge to tap your toes along with the music while they’re on your head. The velour ear pads (both pairs) now contain memory foam, and should maintain their shape nicely over time (something the Sennheiser HD600 and 650 are notorious for not doing). The imaging on the DT 1990 Pro is also very good, as it makes it very easy to accurately discern the direction from which sounds originate.
