About this deal

While Chanel struggles to keep her livelihood intact, Paris sinks under the iron fist of German rule. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance.

She studied Visual Communication at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and illustration at the University of the Arts Berlin, where she is based now.

There are so many excerpt from the book I would love to include in my review but it would spoil it and I would never stop writing, Coco had a hard life she was shy but she knew what she wanted from an early age which made her a shrewd business woman. I was really surprised to read that there was so much more to Gabrielle, and she wasn’t just the ‘fashion designer’ as I thought.

Meet three inspirational women from the world of science: Ada Lovelace, Amelia Earhart, and Marie Curie! no matter how much we may agree or not with a choice in a person´s life, we werent really there and neither was the author to know exactly what happened that day in that place. This moving book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the designer's life. Some of her most celebrated designs, such as the two-piece suit, the little black dress and the quilted handbag, remain in vogue to this day.

Coco Chanel was also a performer, she was the lover of many high profile intellectuals, and she was believed to be a Nazi Spy by some. Raised by nuns in an orphanage, she rose to become a star of the world of couture and a byword for stylish elegance. She was born Gabrielle Chanel on 19 August 1883 – a date that she later changed by hand in her passport. The product must be in the same condition/original packaging that you received it and undamaged in any way.

Meet Malala Yousafzai, the incredible activist for girls’ education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.Coco Chanel lived life on her own terms and made it what she wanted it to be, instead of just being content with what she was handed. It is 4 stars from me for this one – a great biography looking at a fashion icon – highly recommended! This biography tells of how Coco Chanel overcame a troubled and poor past, to become one of the most recognized names in Fashion. At a time when girls were told to brush their hair 100 times until their arms were sore, Coco promised herself that one day she would snip away her locks so that she wouldn't have to be so fussy--girls needed time for other things, and they needed some of the comforts that boys enjoyed.

Meet three inspirational people from the world of literature: Maya Angelou, Anne Frank, and Jane Austen! It intrigued me to read that Coco Chanel’s favourite novel was ‘Wuthering Heights’, and that the austerity of the convent was a major influence on her design. I really enjoyed this book, before I picked this up I didn't know much about the life of Coco Chanel but feel Rose gave us a thorough account of her life without being too overwhelming. During the Second World War, Chanel closed her couture house, but accepted the enemy's help in rescuing her beloved nephew from a prison camp. Still, if for no other reason that the pics she shows us and the info she presents on Chanel´s childhood, it is a must read!Justine Picardie has spent the last decade puzzling over the truth about Coco Chanel, attempting to peel away the accretions of romance and lies. This book is written as well and as thrillingly as any number of fiction novels I have read lately, but it's all true. Simon examines the world both reflected and shaped by Chanel, setting her life and work within the context of events in France and America from before the First World War to the profound social changes of the 1960s. It's a factual biography of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, better known as Coco Chanel, the orphaned girl who rose to be one of the most famous names in fashion, if not the most famous; credited for the creation of simple, elegant, comfortable designs, most notably the "little back dress" now considered an essential item in any wardrobe. The way she presented Coco Chanel's rise to fame and fortune against all odds is an interesting spin, and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
