A minimum of two pieces of paper (the same size), you can use as many as you like, the more you use the bigger it is! Concertina sketchbooks use one basic fold to create an interesting layout which can be used for a variety of different purposes.

The sketchbook features 1 extended folding arm and offers 70 panels to work on; each page is two sheets joined together for extra stability . You will then alternate the pieces so the folds face either towards you, or away from you, as seen in the second image. Good quality paper that withstands quite a bit of water, is smooth to sketch on and doesn’t warp to much when it’s been painted. Different I saw this some time ago and thought it would make an interesting project by painting a panoramic. However, I have found that the individual pages separate easily, meaning that paint goes in between paintings and it is hard to keep neat.

Small enough to slip into a handbag, I can make quick sketches with fineliners, so I end up with a book of my own ‘postcards’ as unique mementoes of places visited. Using scissors or a ruler, tear along the crease to separate the page into two pieces along the fold you have made.
