About this deal

Obviously there are no rules when recording, but this will help you see some of the basic setups for recording literally ANYTHING! We’re becoming so anal and self-analytical and protracted with our views on recording, I think it’s destructive and anti-creative.

In particular, the way the author described Groove is not something I have encountered elsewhere and it's going to be something I implement in my own music.

You hope that your ears are working with your soul along with your objectivity, but truly you can never be sure. Generally speaking I found it ironic to read about sound in a book format, and I don't think I'll repeat the experience. Elliot Scheiner: I was a drummer and I hacked around in a bunch of different bands until I just didn’t want to do it any more.

It might take a day and it might take four or five different set-ups, but in the end you don’t have to worry about EQ because you made the right acoustic choices while recording. If the band is of the type that can execute perfectly and doesn’t require any replacement, you want to capture it with the leakage. If you know that you’ll have to work on the parts and they might require a lot of attention to detail, you have to look at the leakage factor as being important. Some chunks of the interviews that take up most of the second half of the book appear in the first half as well.
