About this deal

Carbon monoxide, or CO, is a poisonous gas emitted from household items that are defective, and as a result are burning fuel incompletely. Do not install CO alarms within 3 metres of doors or windows, above radiators, or immediately close to anything that gives off steam or fumes like a cooker or shower room. The combined test / hush button allows for low volume weekly testing, and the Sleep Easy function can silence low battery / end of life warning chirps for up to 8 hours with a single button press.

Also note that carbon monoxide has been proven to spread into neighbouring properties through open windows and, in semi-detached or terrace houses, through loft spaces. As well as being calibrated and rigorously tested in-house the alarm has been third party approved through the British Standards Institute (BSI) and is Kitemark certified. Regular servicing of these products can reduce the risk of CO being present, but it cannot completely remove the risk. Every home needs a carbon monoxide detector (and smoke alarms), and we can recommend the FireAngel alarm – the build quality is good, the alarm is very loud, the flashing LED notifications are very noticeable. In the event of the alarm sounding never ignore it, ventilate the room by opening doors and windows, turn off the appliances if possible and leave the property.Carbon monoxide cannot be smelt, tasted or seen, and can be deadly - the only way to be alerted to CO is with an audible CO alarm. FireAngel are a well-known and respected brand of fire safety products for the home with smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and heat alarms. This CO alarm is suitable for use in domestic applications, including: boats, static and mobile homes, caravans and motor caravans. Breathing in Carbon Monoxide can be lethal in enclosed spaces and can result in CO poisoning, illness or in some cases death.

From October 1st 2022, the law is changing surrounding carbon monoxide alarms in rented properties – for both the private and social sectors.Carbon monoxide can also spread from neighbouring properties or outside sources such as vehicle fumes. CO is a gas which cannot be seen, tasted or smelt but can result in CO poisoning and illness or in some cases death. It can be wall mounted or free-standing and should be placed in a room with any fuel-burning appliance (boiler, oven, gas fire or wood-burning stove) – if you have more than one room with a fuel-burning appliance then ideally you should place a CO alarm in each one. Carbon Monoxide is produced when fuels burn incompletely – this could be from a boiler, gas fire, oven, log burner or a blocked flue or chimney. Installation is quick and simple, just pull the disabling tab out of the bottom of the device (don’t throw this away) and wait for the LED to turn green (can take up to 1 minute).
