I definitely smell more tuberose than anything (tuberose is so distinct though), bit I also get lots of jasmine (smells like real jasmine absolute), but this is so varied it's almost hard to understand it in one wearing. Despite all this, I hope when you finally wear this scent it can inspire some mystery, tragedy or sexuality for you too. My best friend wore this in high school and on her it was nice, but I didn’t think it smelled great. When trying fragrances from that era, I enjoy the ambers and vanillas and generally crinkle my nose at the florals. My father was a jazz musician and he was having a true revival in the 90s, playing all over the SF Bay Area, at venues such as Yoshis.

It's not a perfume I'd choose myself (it feels a little bit older than something I'd wear as someone in her mid 20s) but it's pleasant and familiar. Amarige is a perfume you wear for yourself, not to please others - I honestly think you should do that with every fragrance.Amarige seems to be the one I expected : it tells me the story of a woman : the first note is like youth and springtime, the middle note is made with marvellous opened flowers for a happyness life , and after drying, the notes are a soft memory of the first notes with an add of a light ghost of powder. This has an almost dryer-sheet quality about it in the beginning, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing!There is just some screeching high-pitched thing in Amarige that assaults my olfactory system and sickens me on a visceral level. Launched by Givenchy in 1991, Amarige is feminine scent that possesses a blend of violet, mimosa, soft sweet spices, and orange flowers accompanied by fruity notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches, and plums. Far prefer organza - still floral (jasmine features prominently -less so than Mugler’s Alien) but is far more nuanced than Amarige. I love mimosa, however, and generally prefer complex, living scents so I decided now, 30 yrs on, to give it another go now that I am looking back to the era of more complex perfumery. Even the font used (on the original bottle from the 90s, which is just slightly different from the new bottle in the above picture) is old fashioned and meant to evoke a more romantic and iconic time.The bouquet finishes with the vibrant and muted, yet extremely sensual notes of ambergris, precious woods, musk and vanilla. I won't be reaching much for this one, because if I want me some white flower perfume I will reach for my Pure Poison by Dior, because that is how I imagine white flower scent.

The radiance and longevity are amongst the best in the entire history of perfume and amazingly Amarige retains a certain bright dewy freshness even to the last hours of the drydown. Amarige is a really classy , sophisticated fragrance and is one of Miss Diana Ross signature scents ! I tested it in sephora a long time ago, I remember smelling a lot of new fragrance releases, when I saw this beautiful bottle which gave me a vintage vibe. That is why this fragrance is as intensive as a strong feeling, merry, juicy and unforgettable as a moment of happy mariage. It's as if a delicate white-on-white composition of floral garlands and fruits has been expertly crafted into an olfactory delight.

I'm certain that I've smelt Amarige along with Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant on someone's mother during my childhood in the 90s so it brings comfort and happy memories. I still enjoy the scent, and better appreciate it -- even it no longer sporting shoulder-pads and big hair.
