About this deal

Six Japanese botanicals cultivated over four seasons, carefully selected to create Roku, Japan’s authentic craft gin. While gin might be more associated with the English countryside, Japanese expressions have grown in popularity over recent years and developed a deserved reputation for quality. I don't like gin paired with tonic, I much prefer it with lemonade, which this goes really well with. We also offer bespoke wine packages to businesses in a variety of different sectors – ideal for functions, boardrooms, or corporate gifts. Each botanical has been harvested at the peak of its season to extract the best flavor, then distilled to fully embody the blessings of nature.

Each of the botanicals are distilled separately according to their features of botanicals so that their individual characteristics are maintained. The first gin from Japan's legendary Suntory distillery, Roku Gin, is simply a must-have for gin fans. I also really like the look of the bottle in my drinks cabinet and it’s taken pride of place at the front :) I didn’t want to open the bottle but temptation gave in. Only after the distillation process is fresh water from the mountain source added, which gives this gin its fresh taste. The sake brewery created its take on gin which uses a shochu base combined with ten Japanese botanicals including peaches and grapes for a sweet finish. Etsu is a Japanese Gin, distilled in Hokkaido using a series of distinctly Japanese botanicals, including tea leaves and yuzu, and a few more traditional ones. In fall it's time for the spicy Sansho pepper, and the zingy Yuzu fruit bursts into ripeness in winter. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it is accurate, it is not a substitute for your reading the product packaging and label prior to use. Other notable examples include the Japanese Gin Martini, which again uses ginger as the garnish, and is expertly made in bars and restaurants across the country.

In the city of Kyoto, Japan's ground zero for all things traditional, you can wander from sake brewery to sake brewery in the Fushimi Sake district and dine at some of Japan's most elegant restaurants.Gins produced in the southern tropical regions of Okinawa combine the woodsy flavor of juniper with local fruits like shikuwasa and kabosu. Nikka, a giant in the Japanese whisky industry, also offers a gin that features apples from Hokkaido and sansho pepper. Akita Prefecture is located on the coast of the sea of Japan and extends East to the Ou Mountains, the longest mountain range in Japan.

With a growing number of distilleries entering the market and the established ones continuously innovating, the diversity and complexity of Japanese gin are set to increase. As opposed to the barley or wheat used in classic gins, Japanese gin may be distilled using rice or corn, which comes from the process of making shochu or whisky. Enthusiasts and newcomers alike can expect a continuing evolution of flavours as distillers push the boundaries of what gin can be. The rice paper-made label on the bottle is the classy touch for this bottle which is a must-have for all the gin lovers shelves. It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Wm Morrisons Supermarkets Limited prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Roku is the prestigious gin that offers the best of every season. When you come in, you can find your new favourite bottle at our tasting counter, hire glasses, flutes and chiller bins free* and pick up some ice. Distillers, already adept at producing high-quality whisky, turned their attention to gin, applying their precision and dedication to this botanical spirit.
