About this deal

As far as the 702, I’m still leaning towards it overall, but the 9500 has really made a push and is almost as good to me. I have no desire to use it now, as I enjoy the flavor and overall balanced sound signature of the K712 PRO even more.

I currently own the MA900 (my fave full sized headphone ever, if mostly because it’s comfort and non-existent weight, paired with well balanced, non-fatiguing sound just makes it hard NOT to love) and I agree with that part of your review most. AKG web: "The K712 PROs are reference, open, over-ear headphones for precise listening, mixing and mastering. Dale has tried ungodly amount of headphones and still has the opinion that there is not one pair that does everything right. The K240 MKII professional over-ear, semi-open headphones are a long-time standard in studios, in orchestras and on stages around the world. If you want to focus on the music, you may do so but for that a Sennheiser HD650 might be a better choice, with relatively non-existent soundstage and in-your-face mids. From a vast catalog of studio microphones and studio monitoring headphones, we are going to take a look at the revered K712 Pro which is second in line only to their flagship K- Series headphones, the K812. Without the Burson or a good receiver in the mix, I tread carefully when it comes to media usage in general. When playing audio back throughout the rest of the frequency range, things are relatively linear and balanced. The separation along the center image in Three O'Clock Blues is also made clear in this song at around the 2:50 mark.

Intermission in "Whole Lotta Love" shows of cybals beautifully on top of all extravaganza that comes with it.Directly fed by my ALO International on High Gain, the experience is sufficient on the low end only with the proper EQ of my portable source. Isolation and spill is naturally compromised, but you get a very open sound, albeit tilted spectrally towards the upper registers (such that I preferred listening at lower levels). The treble here is also pretty relaxed and not sibilant in the slightest but could stand a tiny bit of added sparkle. Looking forward to getting a cable approx 30cm/1ft long and 3D print a holder to put my Fiio BTR5 to use it as a bluetooth headphone around the house.
