Summer is around the corner (despite the inconsistent Canadian weather…) and although I use bronzer year-round, I go in on my bronzer when the weather warms up.

Recently, I’ve been dabbling with Fenty Beauty’s Sun Stalk’r Bronzers, which I received in the two darkest shades: Coco-Naughty and Mocha Mami.My opinion is that makeup lovers had high expectations of this line since the foundations ran so deep.

Fenty Beauty is the first cosmetic company that I’ve ever come across to create a bonzer in a shade that suits my skin tone and I’m excited about it! The Fenty Beauty bronzer collection launched with bronzers that are marketed towards all skin tones form light to dark. Since Fenty Beauty released their line of bronzers, particular attention has been placed on Mocha Mami - the darkest shade in their Sun Stalk'r Instant Warmth Bronzer collection. The color applied fairly evenly and blended out without much effort but did take a little more time to spread across my skin compared to some shades in the range (including the shade one step down from this one, Coco Naughty).The only annoyance is that the mirrored packaging gets dirty easily – I had to polish it for these photos – but honestly, I’ll take it for the gorgeous rose gold situation. It is most definitely a red toned matte bronzer shade, so much so I started to think it was more of a blush than a bronzer. I’ve got the two darkest shades, and if you’re much darker than me (and I wear Fenty 390 in the winter and 420 in the summer, for reference), you’re not going to find a shade that’ll work for you as a bronzer. Shea Moisture also carried one that was slightly deeper annnnnd I recently learned they also discontinued it.

Whether you’re looking for all-over warmth or the ultimate contour, Sun Stalk’r does it all with the perfect soft matte finish that lets skin look like skin. You’ll notice that I didn’t swatch this product on my hand because when I did, you couldn’t clearly see the application on my hand.It had a soft, lightly powdery texture--it was the softest powder in the range--that had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation, but it was definitely more pigmented than it was sheer or buildable. It's either highlight, blush and contour, with bronzer (in the true sense) not part of our vocabulary. While this bronzer seemed to work on deep skin tones as this Fenty promotional video illustrates, that was not the case with many users in reality. Fenty is known for their inclusivity, but honestly, I’m not super impressed with the range of this launch. Mocha Mami is going to be fantastic for the summer, with its rich red undertones lending a perfect bronzey glow.
