About this deal

g as with the pre 2012 Chanel Cristalle - a funky, 'cigarette' accord my come off, if worn on synthetic fabrics - that's not the most pleasant.

I was gifted Scent of a Dream by a friend as a surprise, and have fallen in love: not only is this one of the prettiest bottles I've ever seen, but the scent is absolutely gorgeous - classy and fresh with a touch of soft spice that evolves beautifully until the scent melds and melts into my skin. Received this as a sample with make up I bought, I can only agree with review of maria_elena, this is so awful, and I cannot get rid of the smell from my coat and sweater. I shower in the mornings unless I've been out to the gym, outside working, or other reasons, this morning (WED) I smelled my wrist to smell a faint distant memory still there. She has a love for the intoxicating beauty of the super sexy floral chypres of the seventies and eighties, and I feel like I’d love to hang out with her. I only wear this when I'm in the most specific mood ever: My boyfriend has left the house, and I have all afternoon to play in makeup and red lipsticks at my vanity.

The scent itself is classic with some exotic tendencies, very much in the lines of Chanel Coco or BondNo. Although, I can’t retell the story of this scent as beautifully as I first heard it, if you watch the video (starring long term friend and collaborator Kate Moss)- you’ll get a pretty accurate idea of a genuine story of one of this perfume’s initial wears- which I think is pretty special indeed- I told you Charlotte was magic.I smell roses, adelhydes, pepper, saffron and patchouli, the fresh aromatic kind, not the dirty earthy kind which I cannot stand. I was slow to catch on to this fragrance because within the first few seconds of spraying it, it smelled very chemical to me. Could smell it before I took off the cover, one spray spread to both wrists is still overpowering 4 hours later, even after giving my son a bath and washing his hair. It reminds me of something, but I cannot be sure, (unusually,) there's an echo of Bamboo Glacé by Weil) - which also had an 80'd Givenchy vibe, but in a different way - cannot think what it reminds me of.

Others said it smelled "vintage"-well, I would say it smelled "old fashioned", I guess which to me is NOT a good thing. It smells like a work in progress, like they tipped too much of something into the mix (the iso I guess) and this batch has gone a bit wrong but might be redeemed somehow. Although it doesn't smell similar, it reminds me a little of Saharienne by YSL in that it smells very different on me than on everyone else I know. There aren’t many perfumes that I outright dislike actually (maybe Dior’s Poison – truly poisonous to my untrained nose), but after taking a long, hard look at my own little collection, it seems as if I’m very partial to singular note florals and heavy, spicy scents. Both hyper-feminine and irresistibly seductive, this enhances your powers of attraction - perfect for a first date when you want to feel beguiling but emboldened.

The perfumer Francois Robert helped her in making that scent piped in the chypre - floral composition.

Charlotte Tilbury might be a cosmetic genius, but she knows very little about perfume and clearly has no one around her to tell her she had made a colossal mistake. That being said, Charlotte Tilbury had the perfume formulated after her own personal blend of essential oils she sourced from markets during her time living in Ibiza, which could explain the lemony brightness to the scent.
