About this deal

By keeping the game fun for the players, and trying to make sure that no one detective gets too much edge on the others, you can make Detective: City of Angels a truly magical experience for the people who are playing it. Any new information for lettered case cards will be put in when learned, or new suspects discovered. When Billy O’Shea insists that the victim was a regular at Topsy’s Nightclub, is he telling the truth or is The Chisel subtly leading the detectives toward a dead end that will cost them precious time? Step Four- The Detective may Challenge the suspect's response to see if they were truly given the "most useful response". Favours provide each detective with a unique one-time power to turn the tide on a failing investigation, while Grift cards help the Chisel to foil even the most intrepid flatfoots.

This has been a very satisfying way to play, and I have a great love for Detective: City of Angels . Couple these with the unique mechanics of later missions and no two games of Detective: CoA are ever the same. Detective- This allows one Detective to give two scratch to another detective to look at a lettered case card that the Detective has a knowledge marker on.

Detectives can challenge responses that they think are lies but at great risk: If they're wrong, The Chisel will acquire leverage over them, making the case that much harder to solve. In truth, this is really for a solo play as it involves asking questions and using the Sleuth Casebook which is just a book field with responses to questions being asked. The first day of the game a detective will place their miniature on the board at a police station at the start of their turn, this is only done on the first day. The player to the Chisel's left will gain 4 scratch, second player 5, third 6, and the last player will get 9 scratch. Step into the shoes of LAPD homicide detectives, hungry for glory and willing to do whatever it takes to close a case, even if that means intimidating suspects, concealing evidence, and hiring snitches to rat on their fellow detectives.

Not only will they test your mystery-solving skills to the utmost, each case features new mechanics, new types of cards, and new solve requirements. The good-natured bickering that results from racing your friends to solve a mystery makes game night extra wonderful. Since most crimes are Suspect, Weapon, and Motive, it means that a player must identify a suspect that they have knowledge of, have found and identified the murder weapon, and choose a motive found on the back of detective casebook. If there is a matching number for the location they will hand this to the detective for them to read. The detective to the left of the Chisel will take the first turn of the game, and the Chisel does not take turns as they will instead be making key decisions on a detective's turn.

Detective: CoA uses the innovative ARC (Adaptive Response Card) System to create the feel of interrogating a suspect.

The only negative may be some downtime for players if someone is trying to figure out what question they want to ask.The reason being is the Chisel is pretty much acting like a Gamemaster and is just making sure everyone is having a good time. If there is nothing useful the "All other locations" card will be used to show that there is nothing of value at the location. REPLAY ABILITY: Each crime is a carefully constructed puzzle that can unfold in a variety of ways depending on how the detectives choose to pursue their investigations.
