My 2nd favourite; Lagavulin 16 brought more nostalgia and sweetness to the table, but less initial crispness. This 19 Year Old Ledaig from the Isle of Mull’s Tobermory distillery is the nineteenth batch, a release of just 475 bottles were produced from this outrun. Inspired by the wild purple heather clad mountains on the Isle of Mull, this award-winning Hebridean gin has been distilled with heather, rowan berry and rosehip to create a sweet, herbaceous and gently spicy gin. This award-winning whisky was first matured for 16 years in ex-bourbon casks before being finished for 2 years in the finest sherry casks, giving the whisky delicious sweet and fruity notes. This heavily peated single malt from the Tobermory distillery has been finished in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks.

Bursting with bright citrus and fresh fruit flavours, balanced beautifully with the rich, sweet and spicy notes from the Oloroso sherry casks.However, the company made a choice in separating the distillations, producing peated spirit for six months of the year, and unpeated for the remainder.

The 18 had a quieter smoke/peat presence with a hint of coast when compared to the 10 which is vibrant, loud and full of flavour.
