Of course, being a peninsula, beaches are found all around the country, yet the best ones are easily those of Puglia (the beaches of the Gargano and Salento are easily the best ones in the region); Sicily (Scala dei Turchi is probably the best known, internationally) and Sardinia. We started a game of one-upmanship: who knew the best bar or the best shortcut or the best early morning walk. We were allowed to visit the local pizzeria, where we got pretend drunk on Coca-Cola and the heady scent of mozzarella.

However, what makes this church so special is that it is one of the churches in Europe that are decorated with human bones! Also one of the most fascinating cities on the planet, endearing villages, intriguing history, gorgeous natural beauty, and excellent train system(s).
To truly experience the warmth of Italian hospitality, many foreigners choose to stay with local families through homestay programs. Out of her class of mixed Italians and Americans at Università Roma Tre, one of her classmates was doing the project with her and asked us if she could invite one of her (cute) (single) friends over. Built over centuries, starting in the 1300s and only finished in the 1900s, it’s a testament to the city’s will to survive and thrive despite world events. The beautiful surroundings of the lake and Sirmione’s lovely castle already make visiting the spa here pretty special; it’s difficult to think of a more idyllic day than lazing around in the thermal baths while you look out across Lake Garda. Spain will never have the same repeat draw, but it has a lot to offer and I was enchanted every day.
Poolside was the perfect place to get a bit of uni reading in whilst soaking up some late spring sunshine.
The kids might be kicking a ball around in the tiny village streets, vowing to one day be a famous football player. Looking at the sunset at the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, or quaint bridges spanning Venetian canals, each isbeautiful in its own way. She didn't care for them, and then realized that the problem was she was expecting them to be Prague, and they weren't. We go back to Italy at least once a year and eat pasta all day, drink copious amounts of wine and visit exquisite architecture and I would not have it any other way. I think you would appreciate some of the old churches there including the cathedrals in Salamanca, Seville, Toledo, Valladolid, Burgos etc.From the iconic Colosseum in Rome to the beautifully preserved ruins of Pompeii, history comes alive in Italy. Over the centuries Italian wordsmiths expanded its meaning to irresistible romantic love or any single-minded pursuit that combines challenge and rebirth.
