About this deal

However, they won't maintain a stable fit under strenuous conditions like running or intense exercises at the gym. If you want to get the most out of iPhone or iPod, headphones don't come any better than the Bowers and Wilkins P5 Wireless headphones.

In more details, I found Wireless audio performance to be nicely balanced with a full body sound and excellent extension at both ends of frequency spectrum. Today you can find a lot of headphones labeled as "premium", but not all of them could be considered as truly "luxurious". I can't compare the original P5 to the updated P5 Series 2 which I have reviewed here, but I had a chance to read a technical paper regarding new Series 2 whichHowever, the shape of the inline controls looks dual-sided which can take a little time to get used to. Sure, there's a little muffling of ambient sound because you're placing the earpads on your ears, but virtually every headphone pair on earth offers this, and it's not very significant. Where the P5 succeeds is in offering comfort, portability, and isolation to match the HD25 without tossing style so completely out of the window. In addition to the fold-flat design, short cord, 1/8-inch miniplug, and iPhone mic/remote module, the P5 is easy to drive: Unlike many full-size headphones, which require more juice to sound their best than an iPod or computer headphone jack can provide, the P5 was engineered to sound great directly out of a portable source.

Mine worked pretty well for two years and I was delighted with the sound, and one day the left driver went out (not a cable issue).Another interesting thing about this headphone is that despite its dark and smooth character, I actually found them to be more transparent/clear than its predecessor, the 1st Gen P5, and I would say it is worth the upgrade. and meantime I want to improve my knowledge of how wired vs BT transition is handled wrt the **microphone** functionality, using these as an example.

The signature looks of the P5 series are all here—supra-aural (on-ear) black leather pads with ample cushioning and perforated leather over the two 40mm drivers, the aluminum frame that twists into the earcups like a spiral staircase, and the black leather headband, with its stitching reminiscent of a luxury leather glove. What is immediately obvious is that the P5s present a spacious concert hall right in the middle of your head. However, just about everything else concerning the design is dead-on—the detachable cable, for instance, will power down your headphones when you connect it, saving as much battery life as possible.

Also, due to a connection with a removable cable inside of the earcup, I didn't sense any microphonics effect.

However, the HD25 still wins out in low-end detail and texture, which is most noticeable at lower volumes as the slightly constrained dynamics of the P5 really limit its ability to sound natural unless the volume is turned up at least slightly. The all leather/metal construction and the "timeless and vintage" make it a winner in the looks department. The fashionable leather, aluminum and incredible build quality only work to sweeten the deal further. I have reviewed a lot of wireless headphones in the past, everything from minimalistic controls or touch controls to controls with individual and exotic buttons. They tend to be a bit too smooth which could affect some retrieval of details, but still have a good definition and clarity.
