About this deal

Janet Ahlberg (21 October 1944 – 13 November 1994), née Janet Hall, and Allan Ahlberg (born 5 June 1938) were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries. Innovative, funny and moving, his work encompasses storybooks, picture books, easy readers, joke books and novels as well as poems. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

We use Google Analytics to see what pages are most visited, and where in the world visitors are visiting from. The Jolly Christmas Postman is the seasonal sequel of, the Kate Greenaway Medal winning, The Jolly Postman which, after 35 years, remains one of the most innovative and interactive children’s books available. Our sons loved Alan and Janet Ahlberg books when they were young and we still have an old, much loved Burglar Bill and Cops and Robbers (Ho, ho). It's so beautifully written with rhymes and little envelopes for you to explore with your child, hopefully it withstands my toddler as It's definitely a book I would like to keep and pass through generations. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring theres something for every literary palate. Preschoolers will enjoy the rhyming text and familiar characters and older children can start to read the story and letters themselves. Find out what's on Humpty-Dumpty's get-well jigsaw and who has sent Red Riding Hood a board game for Christmas.

It is still the same and I love that it has continued to have the same lovely illustrations as it has done for many years. One of the loveliest things to do at Christmas is cuddle up and enjoy a good picture book together – and these classic stories have really stood the test of time. Our grownup children remember it from their childhood and a couple of years ago we got a new copy for our grandchild.

This book references so many nursery rhymes, fairy tales and the illustrations and text are both perfect. Classic characters like Burglar Bill and The Jolly Postman have become firm favourites with a generation of children who are now reading them to their own offspring. Bought this for my four year old as I thought he was old enough to appreciate it now, and he loves it! In the first book of this now classic series, we are taken down the dark, dark street to the dark, dark house and into the dark, dark cellar in which the skeletons live.
