About this deal

One Enchanted Evening picks up the story from Katie Fforde's previous books A Wedding in the Country and A Wedding in Provence, this time concentrating on Meg's story. but I was determined to read a few more and Courtney from Ed Pr gave me the perfect opportunity when she asked me to be on the blog tour for Katie’s newest book; One Enchanted Evening.

Katie Fforde lives in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with her family, and is a true country girl at heart. This time, the focus is on Meg as she agrees to support her mother with caretaking a Dorset hotel in the owner’s absence. It's Justin, the owner's son, a chef in his own right, who seems determined to find fault with everything Meg has done. It was great to see how Meg eventually followed her dream of working in a French restaurant in France, where everyone is surprisingly friendly. Meg, while being an amazing and hardworking chef, is also inexperienced, especially when it comes to actually running a kitchen.I bet you’re sitting there thinking, ‘Oh, here she goes again with her I-don’t-know-if-I-wanted-to-smack-him-or-climb-him-like-a-tree thing again! On reading this book, it's easy to see why Katie has had such a great writing career; One Enchanted Evening is a book which many many people will enjoy.

Many of her friends, quite a few of whom I recognised from A Wedding in Provence, make appearances too and everybody is jolly lovely…. v=1611673194","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":17054316724379,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. v=1623356839","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":23410848006299,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. It asks the question, do daughters look out for their mothers as much as their mothers look out for them?

A lot of the scenes are set around food, which makes perfect sense since the two main characters are chefs. This story is about Meg, who answers an SOS from her mother deep in the Dorset countryside trying to make a success of her latest business venture. Justin is arrogant, patronising and sexist, and while I know those attitudes where (and still are) prevalent, this made him a much harder character to like as the book progresses.

He pops around, here and there, and I kinda wish we could get into his head, (I understand why we can't). She has three children: Guy, Francis and Briony and didn't start writing until after the birth of her third child. Not that I want Meg to suffer long, but I felt that it was almost too easy for her to come and go wherever and whenever she pleased--the way she was able to come to help her mother was the first bit, with no actial deadline; then that split decision to leave for France; then to start her job with the chef; and even that she was supported to go. My thanks to Courtney Jefferies from edpr and the publishers for the proof and finished copies and the place on the tour. But what really sold this book to me was the romance, the spark between Meg and Justin, and the way their relationship develops throughout the book made my heart sing. v=1612781338","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":17264472719515,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. Also, I’ve just found out that A Wedding in the Country is about Lizzie (one of Meg and Alexandra’s friends) so I think I need to make sure I read that next!
