Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Mia is particularly disturbed by the dark history of her home and she is compelled to find out more about the past. In 2021, his speculative novel The One was adapted into a 10-episode drama series for Netflix by Misfits creator Howard Overman, and his seventh novel What Lies Between Us has been optioned by Renee Zellweger’s production company at MGM TV. I couldn’t believe what I was reading at times and I know it will possibly raise triggers for some readers in relation to family violence, abuse, death, drug abuse and manipulation of the vulnerable.

Contains three short stories, “William Darling” (1-18), “You Don’t Look Very Poorly” (19-36), and “Fight the Good Fight” (37-57).The bestselling author of What Lies Between Us presents his most shocking and delirious thriller yet with Keep It in the Family. Following the clue up into the eaves, the couple make a gruesome discovery: their dream home was once a house of horrors. She is prepared to do anything to protect her family—but will the previous tenants stop her from discovering their secret? I hated that

She is prepared to do anything to protect her family―but will the previous tenants stop her from discovering their secret?A story of family, manipulation, and the age-old question of nature vs nurture, Keep it in the Family is very dark and extremely twisted. By giving each of them a voice we are able to really get inside their minds and discover who they are. But just as the house is nearly ready, Mia discovers a chilling message scored into a skirting board: I WILL SAVE THEM FROM THE ATTIC. Piece by piece the mystery of this house of horrors is revealed and Mia realises that her life might be in danger. However, as much as this was truly awful to read about, I felt there was a line of possible truth to this story.

What stayed in my mind the most when it came to Keep It in the Family was the debate surrounding nature versus nurture, inherited family trauma, double lives, murder, secrets and psychological tendencies. Every time you think all the twists have been revealed and you have it all figured out he will pull the rug from under you and turn the world upside down. The current day storyline is interspersed with chapters from the past which fill in blanks but also add a lot of flesh to the story and provide very important background information. Dark, twisty and pulsing with 'no let up' tension, Keep it In The Family will have you guessing until the very end - and likely checking out your own attic just to be sure. These novels have proved great favourites with reading groups, causing readers to squirm with mingled horror and delight as she peels away the layers in all too familiar family relationships, exposing the tangled threads and conflicts beneath.

Haunted by the terrible things she saw and desperate to find answers, her obsession pulls her ever further from her husband. In this thrilling novel from bestselling author John Marrs, a young couple’s house hides terrible secrets—and not all of them are confined to the past. I won’t say too much more on this aspect other than Marrs has devised a great bunch of shady characters, I couldn’t work them out until it was too late.

Rather, John Marrs illustrates to perfection the warping of values, how we justify our actions and the deep potential for evil that exists in the most unsullied of characters.
