I enjoyed this book more and in a different way than I expected to, and Zevin is definitely an author whose books I will check out in future. This time it’s not the boat to the afterlife but an ambulance to the hospital, where she’s treated for a blow to the head that has knocked out all her memories since sixth grade — notably her parents’ divorce, her sister’s birth, her first kiss, most of her French vocabulary and her ability to operate a motor vehicle.

They're apparently friends again, and as far as I can tell, the sexual tension is never fully resolved. The pacing, and how the book was set out ~ MEMOIRS OF A TEENAGE AMNESIAC is set out: "I was", "I am" and "I will". Sarah lives in Austin, and believes there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure, which is part of why she started FYA in 2009.

Naomi, the main character, is a seventeen-year-old teenager with a past that you’ll get to know while you read it and sometimes you find about her past at the same time as her. J. Fikry, Gabrielle Zevin's Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac is an imaginative YA novel all about love and second chances. It had sent me down the stairs, and I'd thought that meant something, but maybe it was just the direction that all things tend to flow. I became a fan of Yuya Tegoshi just yesterday, then I watched the movie this morning because I know that he was part of it. If Naomi should've been less whiny, Will should've realized that amnesia means you can't remember things.

Zevin weaves the tale of Naomi’s self discovery with extraordinary skill and creates characters that are so alive, I feel like I know them and experienced the events of this story right along with them as opposed to merely reading about them. She has friends who simply don’t seem that attractive any more and, despite having meticulously kept a diary during the now-lost years, she only wrote about what she ate every day in it!
