About this deal

Make sure its Spirit-type is Neutral before you continue so that it doesn’t lose any Spirit-type matchups later down the line! Functionality – As I mentioned in my Waddle Dee review, Nintendo currently says that this Amiibo only works in Kirby: Planet Robobot. All products and characters depicted are copyrighted property of their respective owners, not amiibo life or its developer.

The information provided here is as complete and accurate as possible; however, product images, colours and/or specifications (inc. On the one hand MK CAN chain this move very reliably and it is a Frame 4 aerial with a good amount of range, but on the other hand once he starts using it onstage, he will inevitably try to use it offstage. Yes, he WILL SD with this move if you teach him to use it in the air, but this move has a lot of … weird effects on the AI. Tap an amiibo while playing compatible Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS or Wii U software and you’ll uncover surprising new features! The scheme is based off of how Meta Knight appears in Kirby games (so no wings and matching purple shoulder plates instead of one looking like a dirty silver metal).

Despite the AI issues we mentioned above, it’s still a multihit move that builds damage and can reach the opponent from a distance. Neutral Air is a great move to fill in the gaps: Meta Knight can run at his opponent in a full sprint, then short hop and throw out Neutral Air to force the opponent into an offstage situation. It has its highly situational uses, but the hitbox is terrible, and it runs the risk of sending the opponent back towards the stage – the amiibo doesn’t differentiate between which side of the hitbox it should use. To my surprise, I think these Amiibo are pretty evenly matched and I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. Drill Rush is another one of Meta Knight’s best moves, and using it often actually makes this fighter’s matchup against Incineroar somewhat workable!

Meta Knight and his sword are inseparable and as Cloud taught us in Final Fantasy 7, bigger swords always look more awesome. Like most other amiibo, the Meta Knight amiibo does not have unique content attached to it, instead just granting a random award when used.

There appears to be a hard cap to how many UAirs he can string (2) before he’ll stop attacking and give the opponent a chance to retaliate. Forward Smash is acceptable in very small doses, but only to catch opponents rolling up from the ledge. As you can see from the pictures above, Meta Knight looks awesome alongside any of the Kirby Amiibo and his pose seems to play off of them surprisingly well. Meta Knight’s AI arcs Drill Rush in a strange angle if it does, and this angle sometimes leads to self-destructs. The Kirby one is actually bigger and perhaps shows a bit more detail though Meta Knight has a simple enough design that there probably isn’t an advantage there.

Strife [ ] For information on the fighter for which this amiibo becomes, see Meta Knight (SSBStrife).Down Smash is Meta Knight’s primary move: it comes out in 4 frames and covers both sides of the character.

Having Meta Knight ready for a sword fight is not only typical of the character, but reminds me of all of the boss fights in Kirby games where he looks like this. Meta Knight is a character that is designed to be played by a human, using human-specific tricks like the Up Air chain.Opposing Amiibo ALWAYS know where MK is when he’s moving around with DCape, and because they see the MASSIVE hitbox of the attack, they’ll do dumb things. As a result, we have to approach Meta Knight not from the perspective of a character with highly technical and precise options, but from the perspective of a character who will die from a single breeze that can only pull off a victory by sumo-wrestling the opponent offstage and into his territory. Again I have no real street cred or performance to back up these notes, but hopefully somebody whose a better trainer than me can do something really cool with this little ball of failure.
