About this deal

I checked to make sure that the holes in the exhaust and the chassis bracket are large enough to allow the bolt to pivot through a large angle, ensuring that the load is always on the rubber spacers rather than being a shear load on the bolt. Now not all exhaust have the same mountings and hangers but this will give you an idea of what a good setup should look like! Please remember to add the forward-slash and not to put in any spaces in between the letters and numbers. Moz's comment about rubber products sounds familiar - I changed the steering rack gaiters for boxed and branded QH ones last year and they're already starting to go at the edge.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Also, having the header or downpipe secured to the differential; having the subframe remounted with solid items on anything newer than MK III cars, and having the engine securely mounted are crucial to mini exhaust longevity. My arches were from Huddersfield too, I got the outer lip trim but nothing for sealing the join between body and arch. I think it would be better without the metal washers either side of the chassis bracket and exhaust bracket - I think it would give a little more flex and transmit less noise. I replaced my perished exhaust bobbin with one from a local motor factors but 6 months on it looks as bad as the one it replaced.rubber silencer mounting, RGM carries them, I'm sure Norvil, Hemmings, Andover, Burtons Bits they're rather common. I'm guessing it needs another mount in the middle of the car, and probably the rear one replaced, but what parts will this involve, and will simply remounting and clamping up sort it? Also, is this something I could conceivably work on myself, or would I be better taking it to an exhaust specialist? Go to a motor factors like Halfords in the UK (or something similar where you are) and they should be able to supply you with some Mini (old classic Mini) exhaust rubber mounts, cheap as chips and similar to Norton stuff apart from a radiused centre.

I did think about adding some fail-safe strapping across the two studs of the bobbin to add some security but it wasn't easy to find suitable components, it would have looked messy and probably wouldn't have worked so well. Also if anyone knows the part number and a good supplier in the UK or Europe it would be very much appreciated. First thing that bothers me is the one mounting - the rubber is cracked and perished, and isn't supporting the weight properly, so the whole thing hangs squint. At the engine end, there's a squiggly section of pipe to take it round the gear linkage box thing, but instead of running along the exhaust channel in the chassis, it kind of hangs underneath it, which is no good.

If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. My exhaust bobbins (poly bushing mounts for exhaust hangers) failed on the way home and my exhaust dragging on the freeway was enough to make me pull over and investigate. i got the arches from huddersfield spares, they recommended them to go with my 6x12 revs and the rubber strip came with them. The engine mounts are very rigid and there's enough length of pipe and available flex between the engine and rear mount that most modes can be discounted I would suggest.
