A tan can help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars. Apply a St.Tropez Self Tan product to the area with a cotton bud. Leave for at least 8 hours and then wash away the guide colour, then apply your all-over tan as normal. If the tan is not dark enough, repeat approximately every 8 hours until satisfied. St.Tropez Self Tan contains a higher concentration of the tanning agent (DHA), which provides a natural looking tan that lasts up to 5 days after just one application. Self Tan Classic, Express and Dark contain a tinted guide colour for ease of application (so you can’t miss any patches) and also benefit from an instant wearable colour while your self tan develops underneath. Self Tan should ideally be left to develop between 4 to 8hrs (excluding Express) before showering off the tinted guide colour to reveal your natural-looking tan. The developed colour will then last between 3 and 10 days depending on which product was used and how the tan is maintained. Apply a small amount of the self tan product with a cotton bud to the inner crease of the elbow or behind the ear and leave dry for 24hrs. If any contra-actions occur such as redness, swelling, inflammation or itching, avoid using the product as this is a positive reaction for sensitivity. If no reaction occurs then it is fine to proceed with the full body application. Apply your chosen gradual ta n n ing moisturiser with your hand or a mitt, smoothing carefully from the legs upwards. We recommend using circular motions to ensure all areas are evenly covered. Step 3: Wash your hands Unfortunately we are unable to provide samples. Apply a small amount of Tan Enhancing Body Moisturiser to hands, elbows, knees and feet and any other dry patches – this will ensure the tan doesn’t over develop. For an even, streak free tan, we always recommend using a St.Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt, which is lined and waterproof to prevent the palms of your hands getting stained. For an ultra-even, streak-free fake tan, always ensure you’re working with a clean canvas. Remove any old tan build up with our Remover Mitt and Tan Remover Mousse. Always exfoliate and remove any unwanted body hair 24 hours before tanning to ensure pores are closed. Make sure your skin is free from any moisturiser, perfume, deodorant and essential oils just before your tan application. Exfoliate well and moisturise before applying any sort of tanning moisturiser , including gradual tan. Pay close attention to particularly dry areas, like the knees and elbows. How to apply gradual tan Step 1: Prep the skin We took the decision several years ago to stop using solid plastic particles in our new product development across our entire wash off portfolio, and started the process of substituting this ingredient with natural alternatives. We completed the reformulation of those products which did contain plastic micro particles at the end of 2015 and despite it often being a lengthy process to properly validate safe and effective alternatives that do not compromise the performance of the product, we are proud to have successfully achieved this. The biscuity smell that everyone associates with self tan is caused by the tanning agent DHA (dihydroxyacetone). We teamed up with top fragrance house Givaudan to create our signature fragrance, featuring our mood-boosting technology, which works to not only mask the smell but also eliminate it by making it undetectable to the nose or brain. This fragrance contains notes of bergamot and green apple and combines all those feel-good moments and emotional triggers to capture an invigorating holiday feeling, helping to make the whole tanning process a lot more pleasant and enjoyable! Easy-to-apply. Simply spritz under, over or instead of makeup for a natural post-holiday glow and skincare boost Whilst there is nothing in the products that would be harmful to children, we don’t promote self tan products to children. For our professional spray tans we have clear safety guidelines that our St.Tropez approved salons are trained to follow: we would not advise children have a spray tan but if parental permission has been given, then a parent/guardian must be present during the tan. We do have Instant Tan at-home, cosmetic products which are designed to be washed off that you may deem to be more suitable. The St.Tropez Self Tan Classic, Express, Dark and Gradual Tan Tinted ranges contain a guide colour so you can see exactly where you apply it. You don’t need to worry about applying too much – only missed bits can give an uneven or patchy finish. The St.Tropez Gradual Classic, Shower and Self Tan Purity Bronzing Waters collections do not contain a guide colour but it does leave a light sheen on the skin so you can see where you have applied. All St.Tropez products also contain hydrating ingredients such as Apricot Oil and Aloe Vera which makes application smoother whilst hydrating the skin. We always recommend using an Applicator Mitt to apply any product to ensure a flawless finish and fully recommend daily moisturisation and exfoliating skin twice a week for a long-lasting no-streaks finish and even fade. SKIN SENSITIVITY To tan your hand we recommend forming a claw like shape and applying the left over tan from your mitt in 3-4 strokes down your hand to your fingers. For best results, use our Self Tan Purity Face Mist on hands and feet for a streak-free and subtle finish. St.Tropez brand is cruelty-free and against animal testing: we do not conduct animal testing on our products or ingredients, nor do we ask anyone to test them on animals on our behalf. The only testing we do is with a panel of volunteers in clinical tests and user trials to assess the safety of our finished products.
