About this deal

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Rather than the sketch and flexibility I am worried about the cleaning and Ink filling (is it necessary to disassemble it as you do? e. the pen-holder together with the nib) is longer than most conventional pens, which gives you more space to decide the position you are most comfortable with gripping the pen. Although taking this pen apart was quite similar to the Carbon Desk Pen, I had to use a hairdryer and a lot of grip and strength to unscrew the front section of the pen.

You can use the Platinum Carbon Ink, but do wash the pen occasionally especially if you're not using it for long periods of time. At First Stop Stationers we’ve got everything you need from office stationery such as ballpoint pens and notebooks to luxury fine writing pens and much, much more.

Get this pen or the cheaper DP-1000AN if you want to explore drawing with really needlepoint crisp lines. It is a specially formulated pigmented ink for fountain pens where the pigments are small enough so it won’t clog a fountain pen. The pen gets thrown into my work bag or dropped into my top drawer, not abused just laid wherever it may be needed. It’s not super flexible but you will see some line variation when you draw normally with a little pressure.

The plastic feels cheaper, the mouldings have a little edge to them, but they are not worn down after 25 years use. Would rate higher, but sometimes the ink stops mid-flow, but that might be something that improves with practice. Thank you Teoh, if I ever have both (which will probably happen) I will tell you how do those nibs compare. I'm used to fineliners and the ocassional brush tip and fine dip nib, so this 'extra fine' nib seems fairly chunky for such a designation. They are smooth, assuming you keep the nib aligned with the paper, and they are medium wet, so suitable for regular writing and practicing with.

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. The sleeve has the Rotring logo, Germany 1928, and the product name on it, along with pen details on the back.It doesn't seem bothered what diet of ink it is fed, it just lays down ink reliably, never remember it either skipping or flooding. The silicone stuff, by the way, cost 6 €, but it served for more than one pen: the next one was a Sheaffer Prelude, because it has a much too thin grip section. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. For those that like to use watercolors after laying down links, it’s not as the wash will cause the lines to run. As you can see, adding water had a huge impact, offering some fabulous creative opportunities if you’re interested in creating monochromatic pieces.
