About this deal

Heroine is a complete and utter doormat while the hero is a manwhore who has sex with countless OW while supposedly being in love with her the whole time. He even attempts to have sex with OW after he and the heroine have passionately made out (it gets interrupted with OW for external reasons but they still kiss, etc). What happens when a virgin raised in purity culture asks her gorgeous, player best friend to take her V-card? Aaaaaannnndddd she does it on TikTok, because this is 2023 and teenagers do everything publicly on social media. This was a new author to me and I received this as an Arc. I went in blind (as I do with most books) The one line on the cover drew me in. ‘Shes a sinner and im going to prove it’. They really care for each other. And it wasn't just about the two of them, it was about their relationships with her family. Especially the sisters. I really, really feel for Sofi. It's so, so hard being unmarried in our world but 10% times harder to be unmarried as a Christian woman.

It turns out that Cole, aka the manwhore, is traumatized with some family stuff and is afraid of commitment. So he rejects her offer because he don't want to lose their friendship. Purity” is the first novel in the “Purity” series and was released in 2022. What happens when a shy virgin raised in a purity culture asks her gorgeous, player best friend to take her V-card? You would think, the whole set-up of them being really good friends and him always being protective but no he is so annoying. If Brandon was going to masturbate while fantasizing about Mariana, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t do it in his office, in the church, with the door open, only moments after she left. I stupidly didn’t expect the theme of christianity to be so pervasive. The characters in the story are a part of a tight community, devoted to their religion. The mmc is a pastor, a very pious and religious man and remains so. But our fmc is not. She is actually a closeted atheist but keeps going to church to please her family. She is also miserable. In my opinion the main focus was the acceptance of atheists by religious individuals and it was intense. I was sensitive to this topic to begin with, so it felt almost triggering. I liked it but I also hated many of the ideas the mmc and the family presented.

Publication Order of Faithless Books

i’m kinda confused on where i stand with this book. on the one hand i can’t deny that i enjoyed it, but at the same time i have some issues that i can’t completely ignore.

This story follows Vanessa, that grew up in a purity culture. This is the second book in the series and I havent read the first so would def say this can be read as a standalone. She wants rid of her virginity and isnt aftaid to admit it. She has a huge following on tiktok and announces that she has a deadline to ‘do it’. Vanessa was a strong fmc, always spoke her mind. She was realistic, honest. She understood body language and how othters worked and their intentions. Skyler Mason has written a story that shows just how your upbringing and parents influence can effect your life. I am conflicted about what to rate this. I did finish it in one sitting and enjoyed the story but couldn't help but feel something was missing.

See a Problem?

Spoilers ahead, particularly concerning the “grovel” but also other things for context. If you don’t want such specific spoilers then don’t read further.

Livvy is the sweetest, most docile character Mason has ever written. She’s strong and resilient, but most importantly she’s becoming herself, which is all anyone ever hopes to accomplish. Mari, our FMC, goodness gracious I have loved her character since book one. I love how fierce she is. How loving and loyal. How she questions everything and is unapologetically her. Although she has one big secret she keeps from her family... because she loves them and doesn't want to lose them. I just love that Brandon is gives her the confidence to be able to speak her full truth. She was everything in this book and what hooked me from the beginning. I needed to know her story.

She pulls a Britney and has taktok videos telling people about her experiences and then announces that she's going to dispose of this little hymen in 30 days. I didn't like the heroine- I hated how she put words into the H's mouth, and always got out of the situation with tears, or just generally making him feel bad?
