About this deal

The work may be any combination of words and/or pictures, or just pictures (and in any physical format including pop ups, flap books and board books). All submissions must have been written by the author and cannot contain the use of AI generated works. Conditions of entry The decision of the judges is final and they reserve the right not to award the Prize if, in their opinion, no works entered reach a sufficiently high standard. Judges may call in books if they so wish.

The King’s Pants follows a similar storyline, offering a selection of pants for every occasion, from edible organic pants to inflatable space-pants. Think about the materials that different types of clothing are made from. Why did the manufacturer decide to use those materials? How are the different parts joined together? We cannot accept entries that are only available in e-format or that are self-published or where the author has contributed or paid for the costs of publishing. For almost three decades, schoolchildren bombarded Elizabeth II with underpants designed by their own fair hands.

Curriculum

Cheryl Meddins, a teacher at the school, said: “The children were so excited, jumping up and down when we received the letter. To be honest we all were.” Remember to write who it is to and write who it is from. If you are confident in writing your first name you could write your surname too. You could even write a special message inside. I have always had a penchant for a royalty book so when I saw one with a slightly irreverent title I thought it would be worth a read, even if it is aimed at children. Nicholas attended the University of East Anglia, where he obtained an MA in creative writing and attended the Slade School of Art, where he studied Fine Art. Aimed for readers aged 0-7, it is evident that this book has been created to be loved by children of all ages!

Submissions must be made by the print publisher and publishers can submit no more than THREE titles per imprint. Carole Crane, a teacher at Dersingham Infant and Nursery School, in Norfolk, revealed in 2012 that she was advised ahead of the late Queen’s visit that the children “did not need to be asking what she was wearing today”. The original, award winning, book explores the Queen's fashions with a cheeky wink to childish humour- "Everyone can see the Queen's smart coats and dresses, but what does she wear under- neath? Through the eyes of a little girl hoping for a school visit by the Queen, the range of royal underwear is revealed, in all its regal glory" The work should be a single, illustrated volume, in book form. It can be imaginative or factual e.g. a counting book. This week we are also working on one more and one less this week. Can you say the number that is one more and one less than a number? You could try with numbers up to 5, 10 or 20.Accompanying activities, worksheets and speed sound books can be found here as well as home reading books and free Read Write Inc E-books. He wrote his first novel when he was 14, a story about a murder in a school. He sent it to Macmillan who, although they did not accept it, asked to see his next. Nicholas studied painting at the Slade School of Art. During this time he had his first radio play broadcasted by BBC Radio 4. He then completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Can you make a card for a special occssion? You could make one for the Queen’s Birthday or maybe one for Father’s Day or another special occasion.

The Queen ends the story by later sending a special note to the child stating, 'Her Majesty wishes to inform you that her visit was most enjoyable ... and very comfortable.' She obviously didn't visit the school at Christmas! When he was 12 he made a model of a galleon out of a walnut shell which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. Present employees (or anyone currently connected with the administration of the Society of Authors’ grants and prizes) may not apply for any of the grants and prizes administered by the Society of Authors. So common did it become that on one such occasion, royal aides made it clear the children should not ask the monarch about her underwear.

Teaching Ideas and Resources:

To give them a little inspiration for their writing, children could take a look at this Story Word Mat to Support Teaching on Pants! Featuring some of the main vocabularies from this popular children's story, word mats are perfect for supporting your little learners to branch out and try some new vocabulary. I must confess, I do not tend to look at books that seem to have perhaps politically incorrect titles (I'm not sure this title is not PC but you know what I mean) but when I saw this at an event I was attending I sat and read it, not realising that I had read it previously. This new adaptation, by permission of Nicholas Allan, will see the same creative team come together including artistic director James Worthington directing and writing the book, Kate Lindsey on lyrics, Justine Lee as choreographer, Jason Burns working on Orchestration, Steve Boyce creating the colourful costumes and David Law as scenic designer. Pupils at Holy Trinity C of E Primary Academy School in Oswestry, Shropshire, who painted bold colours and patterns on white pants and duly sent them to the King to celebrate his coronation, were delighted to receive a royal reply this week. The work must have been first published in the UK and Republic of Ireland between 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023.
