i will never fully recover from this book. the way that i had absolutely no idea wtf i was getting into when i started this but loved every single moment of this book. this might be my new favorite book at the moment because i literally cannot get it put it out of my head!! This is two people that never grew up after high school and need to either go to therapy or leave each other the hell alone. It’s not romantic??? It’s annoying and toxic. Good god.
anyways, the active betrayal and hurt that was constantly going on between bj and magnolia was so difficult to read cause i was hurting for them both more so magnolia. i think this book was a beautiful representation of toxicity in its truest form and someone you love being a chapter in your life. thinking about bj and magnolia seriously still gives me a headache cause why am i secretly rooting for them deep down? they are so incredibly toxic but the way that they love each other? ugh let me shut up before i start gaslighting myself from all my hectic updates you could see all the emotions i went through. i think if you do not like toxicity whatsoever stay far far away from this book, but other than that it was such an addictive read, and im literally so ready to jump in mp2. The whole friend group (found family) mostly (save for a few) were also a mess but I liked the dynamics. Small mention of gus but the little we got of him in this was hilarious as hell to me

This honestly felt like a reality tv version of gossip girl but make it London with affluence, wit and humor. I’ve never read a book filled with such drama that feels realistic given all the context within it (actually no I have but this surpasses the addicted series in so many ways namely with the cheating aspect) and trust that I’m still reeling given how it all unfolded If you like to read about 25 year olds that sleep with everybody but each other, an MMC that cheats cause he feels like it, painfully detailed descriptions of outfits that only the Kardashians could afford, a FMC that has three guys dangling and in love with her cause she’s “quirky and mysterious”, and a group of friends that have ZERO personality, this is for you.
She is a beautiful, affluent, self-involved and mildly neurotic London socialite. He is Britain's most photographed bad-boy who broke her heart. But also I hated that whole friend group at times!! At first I was like why are they not helping them figure out their shit then I realized it’s because each one of them is more messed up than the rest😭 did i love it though? Absolutely. speaking of the shitballs of the group, the Ps were just about irrelevant, pails and perry, i have nothing to say. dirty dogs. thats it. jonah, he broke my heart. magnolia literally mentions how shes his favorite and he lets her do everything. well, even if you're their fav theyre still gonna support their bestfriend and their wrongs. dont trust the bfs bestie guys. that man is not ur friend. The drama was such a force between them and I felt somehow like I was in the room with them unsure of what to do lol and I definitely questioned my sanity bc I enjoyed it so maybe I should be concerned? Bj was aware of his actions and the pain they inflict—yet defies them. He had the audacity to get mad at her when he was the one constantly messing up. I couldn’t keep up with the stress he put me through and idk if I can forgive him. we’ll see ig. he needs therapy.. they both do. Their codependency goes such a long way that I hope they grow from it. But I can’t place all the blame on him as they both hurt each other and it was so heartbreaking as it was insufferable to see.

Some final thoughts: The characters are in their early 20s, but this is not YA, nor is this a BRAD, although book 4 was a little saucier than 1-3. This book is self-published and could probably use another set of editorial eyes on it, but it didn’t distract me. If you are an audiobook listener, the rumor is they are recording the audiobooks right now (I would listen just for the dreamy British accents alone). Books 1 + 2 are on kindle unlimited. Am I surprised by my rating? Very much as I thought I’d rate it 2-3 stars so look away 🫣 rtc whenever I can put into words my scattered emotional thoughts 😭 this book literally consumed me and took me out from frustration that I had to put my book down when it was over—and that messed up ending?? Left me gasping as I never saw it coming but at least I got the drama I wanted right?
