Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. Tim’s latest novel, THE MOTHER, is a twisty tale of deceit and betrayal, of redemption and revenge - the story of a woman wrongfully convicted of the very worst crime and her fight for justice. Four women who have been best friends for as long as they can remember making the most of a luxurious villa in the south of France. Heather is an investable character, I just couldn’t help but root for her after reading the ins and outs of her wrongful conviction and subsequent 9 year stint in prison for the murder of her husband Liam. I have read other books recently where someone has been wrongfully imprisoned and gotten out trying to prove their innocence, and they have been a much better read than this one.

It has it good moments of various revelations, but they weren't ones that kept you guessing or at edge as to what happens next! The main character stumbles upon her husband murdered and sue not she is under the spotlight for being the perpetrator. But the more he digs and the more obsessed he becomes, the more he alienates his daughter and his wife, who are both convinced Ryan is The One. It was made into a four-part drama for Channel 5 starring Jill Halfpenny and Owen McDonnell, now available on Netflix UK. J. Finn, International bestselling author of The Woman in the Window 'A heart-stopping, twisting, unmissable thrill-ride.

It has since won a Nielsen Bestseller Award and been made into a four-part TV drama starring Jill Halfpenny (currently available on Netflix UK).The author sets the scene perfectly as Heather becomes increasingly frustrated of the distant Liam and his heavy work load, it gets to the point where she suspects that he might be having an affair - so there is potential for a motive. Very suspenseful, so if you enjoy those type of books that keep you on your toes I highly recommend. Terrified that his cherished only child is about to marry a man who is not what he seems, Ed sets out to uncover Ryan’s secrets. I’ve not watched any of his dramas so I’m certainly going to correct this and read more of his work.

Author added information that was not really necessary to the plot and as such it wasn't really adding anything to the story but word count. From its propulsive opening to its devastating finale, That Night explores the terrible cost of family loyalty and the lines all of us might cross for those we love.

With an opening chapter of a women standing hidden in the shadows at the back of her own funeral, watching her two sons grieving you know you are in for a bumpy ride. As she wakes up with not much recollection as to why she feels so groggy, her world as she knew it would never be the same. Her heart feels broken from being separated from her two boys and she is desperate to get them back despite the terms of her parole. The characters were completely investible, which made the events even more tense and the worry from the reader, palpable. I have read other books by this author that were far superior, so if this is the first you pick up of his, don’t let it deter you from some of his other work.
