About this deal

Duppy Share is an English rum brand that has been growing steadily over the past years and can be seen pretty much everywhere, from supermarkets to your favourite rum bars or even Greene King pubs. After asking online, I’ve been told this is a blend of rums from Hampden, Clarendon and Worthy Park. It’s certainly a lot more rounded (I’m not going to say smoother) than Bacardi Superior or “House” White Supermarket swill.

It has been available in most major retailers and UK supermarket chain Morrison’s for quite some time now. Duppies are Caribbean souls or spirits who live at the foot of the cottonwood trees and have a fondness for rum. In fairness when it comes to the rum world it is understandable that people are suspicious of “brands” and stories surrounding the brand. The best of Jamaica combined to create an exotic blend of pink grapefruit, lime and award winning white rum. Which in fairness doesn’t sent the benchmark all that high but it isn’t just better than those rums. Duppy White is molasses based, a blend of pot and column still distillates from undisclosed Jamaican distilleries * (or distillery) and bottled at 40% ABV free of any additives. Absolutely suitable for sipping neat to appreciate that full-bodied flavour profile, and it'll also do wonders in all sorts of classic cocktails.

Duppies are dark Caribbean spirits or ghosts, originating from Jamaica and known to have a special love of rum. The Duppy Share has a fun vibe to it, so I guess some more snobbier elements of the rum world don’t tend to take the brand too seriously. Absolutely essential for a classic Blue Lagoon cocktail, you can also pop fresh and fragrant Bols Blue in a vibrant Blue Margarita or add extra pep to a simple orange juice or lemonade. With a history dating back over half a millennium, Disaronno is a flavour which has always been loved. Like so many of the classic cocktail favourites, the origins of the Mojito cocktail have been lost and blurred over the years. The Duppy Share White is a 100 % Jamaican white rum with an irresistible taste of mango, thyme, banana and white pepper. Vividly neon green with a bouquet of aromas incorporating mint, lemon blame, aniseed and of course wormwood, Grande Absente Original is made to a pre-ban absinthe recipe the flavour builds as you enjoy each sip. Enjoyed by absinthe connoisseurs and dedicated spirits advocates around the world in the traditional way with sugar and water.

Something which once again might raise suspicion/affect credibility in the upper echelons of Rum Enthusiasts but will probably be of interest to the “youth” of today. I’m not sure many white rums have been marketed towards the sipping end of the spectrum but certainly the biggest player globally in white rum – Bacardi certainly introduced a white sipping rum a few years back. The addition of mango, peppercorn, lemongrass, and other culinary ingredients to the profile adds depth, resulting in a genuinely distinctive and full-bodied experience. If you want something to punch you in the face and leave you with a bloody nose then go and get another bottle of Wray and Nephew. Rum is housed in a nice bottle with a label that contains references to Kan's life from fashion, through food, Empier Windrush to the myriad ways Jamaican culture has affected us all. On the palate, indulgent flavours of butter fudge, caramel and condensed milk delicately marry with accents of apricot, vanilla and nutmeg. Now, despite being a blend of rum from two of the “hippest” rum distilleries – Foursquare and Worthy Park, it never seems to get talked about much.
