About this deal

Have you ever heard of moringa before? Although this plant was initially discovered for its beneficial properties thousands of years ago, only recently has moringa (sometimes called the Ben oil tree) become known as one of the most impressive herbal supplements to hit the holistic health market. Citrus bitters: Orange is the most commonly used one here, but name a citrus fruit (grapefruit, Meyer lemon, yuzu), and there’s a bottle of bitters out there based around it. In the beginning, it’s best to start with small doses of bitters before assessing its effectiveness and your body’s reaction. Before you make your own, learn the basics When your digestion needs a little support, bitters can facilitate stomach acid and act as a digestive aid. The most popular medicinal use of this plant involves drying and grinding down moringa leaves, where most of the antioxidants and other healthy properties are found. A 2022 study revealed how most people view moringa as only a fruit/vegetable, but it’s the moringa leaves that “contain almost all essential nutrients, growth factors, vitamins, amino acids, proteins, minerals, and metals like potassium, iron, and zinc.”

One study found that variants (polymorphisms) in the TAS2R38 gene can lead to 3 main categories of bitter perception to bitter compounds. People with the AVI type of receptor have difficulty in tasting bitterness, while those with the PAV type are sensitive to bitter taste. The 3rd AAI type falls somewhere in between [ 43]. Living Bitters speeds up the natural cleansing of the entire system, and helps to improve intestinal absorption and gently empty the bowels. Old toxic fecal matter, mucus, and hard coatings from the colon wall are no match for Living Bitters! It also helps to normalize peristaltic action and rebuild the entire system. Scientists believe it may have neuroprotective properties, but they have not yet identified how they work. 9. Protecting the cardiovascular systemMoringa contains a range of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents, such as quercetin, which may help protect cardiovascular health. Quercetin may help prevent lipid formation and inflammation, both of which can contribute to heart disease. Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry: “Five bitter compounds display different anti-inflammatory effects through modulating cytokine secretion using mouse primary splenocytes in vitro." Artichoke leaf contains the flavonoid silymarin, a powerful liver protectant, and has been shown to help liver cells regenerate (in mice). Devil’s club root is used as a treatment for respiratory, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal issues. Menon, S., et al. (2022). Inhibition of crystallization of calcium oxalate monohydrate using leaves from different species of Moringa– Experimental and theoretical studies.

Aside from chloregnic acid, compounds called isothiocyanates that are present in moringa leaf have also been tied to natural protection against diabetes. Alcohol by volume (abbreviated as ABV, abv, or alc/vol) is a standard measure of how much alcohol (ethanol) is contained in a given volume of an alcoholic beverage (expressed as a volume percent). It is defined as the number of millilitres (mL) of pure ethanol present in 100 mL (3.4 fl.). Different brands of drink contain varying levels of alcohol, Alomo Bitters contains 42% Alcohol by Volume. Moringa oleifera seems to have similar abilities as certain conventional drugs, only it doesn’t pose the same level of risk for experiencing side effects. Jahan, S., et al. (2022). Antibacterial effect of moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaf ethanolic extract against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli [Abstract]. Husien, H. M., et al. (2022). Moringa oleiferaleaf polysaccharide alleviates experimental colitis by inhibiting inflammation and maintaining intestinal barrier.Moringa tea: This type of moringa is made from dried leaves steeped in hot water, just like many other beneficial herbal teas. The most nutrient-dense types are organic and dried slowly under low temperatures, which helps preserve delicate compounds. Avoid boiling the leaves to help retain the nutrients best, and don’t cook with moringa if possible. Digestive bitters are extracted from many herbs and supplements with a bitter taste. They are becoming more popular as a digestive aid. Snapshot Proponents Limited evidence suggests that herbal bitters may help with blood sugar control in diabetics. You may discuss their potential use as complementary approaches with your doctor. Insufficient Evidence They do have some notable differences when it comes to their nutrient profiles. While comparable in terms of calories, gram for gram moringa has more fiber, protein, calcium, sodium, vitamin C and vitamin A than matcha does. There aren’t yet enough conclusive studies that delve deep into the benefits of bitters. But the biggest reason to try them is that they may give your digestive system a boost.
