Equipped with a total of three rear-facing cameras, the Huawei P20 Pro is far from your bog-standard smartphone flagship but is the addition of a third camera really as important as Huawei suggests? And more important, that slice of extra space up top offers some flexibility when it comes to the notch. The Verge similarly praised its design for having many subtle details and a "satisfying sense of density that only Apple's iPhone X can match".This metal is aluminium, but it has a polished rather than anodized finish, and looks more like steel. More problematic are some of the app issues I've encountered: Google Maps is sometimes jerky and unresponsive, and I've heard of other units having trouble displaying Instagram stories.
Screen is nice, unlocks lightning fast which can be appreciated considering the nightmare of certain in screen fingerprint sensors. That said, this plastic film does attract fingerprints pretty readily, so you may want to swap it for a tempered glass screen protector down the line. But the screen resolution on the S10 is superior – potentially impacting the experience of Netflix streamers and gamers. However, the Samsung does a slightly better job of appearing to be 'all screen' front-on, because the Huawei's screen does not curve around at the sides.The Huawei also has a few stunning new "gradient" colour finishes, that shift colour in different light. You’ll see the ISO 51200 photo I shot on the P20 Pro actually is very comparable from my full frame Nikon DSLR shot at such insanely high ISO. On the right edge of the phone is the power button and volume rocker, while the nano-SIM tray is on the left. The standard beauty mode is back to help digitally smooth out skin and make eyes larger, but again, the Portrait mode's results are hit or miss here.

Huawei has been really impressing us with its P-range of smartphones for a while now and the P20 Pro is the latest entry into the series. For people constantly trying to show off the best versions of their lives, the P20 Pro is an incredible tool. Having said that, I still think the Huawei camera app is one of the best camera app in the market, especially now with the redesigned user interface. You'll most likely forget the notch is there after a couple of days, particularly as when watching standard 16:9 video there are black bars where the notch sits anyway.
