Fast Forward Instructional Texts are especially designed for teacher-led guided or shared reading sessions with less-able readers (either individuals or groups at the same level) and form the core of Fast Forward’s finely-levelled approach. The dream suddenly jumped to me watching my little cousin’s presentation and then the dream jumpscared me with an American flag, with American rock music(? When I was about 13 I also started to take part in our school's annual Christmas card design competition, with pictures of churches, robins or landscapes, so not so far from my usual subjects for the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists now! A magical story about a young boy who dreams of being an Olympic champion, when one day a dramatic incident changes his life forever.

Unlike levelled reading programmes for younger children, Fast Forward introduces more complex sentences at the earliest levels. Our worldwide reputation has been built on careful selection of the quality of collectables that are offered within this section. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He’s not had an easy start in life so, whenever he can, he heads to his favourite tree in the middle of the forest, climbs to a little platform at the top and closes his eyes.Written by Pat, the girls' voices are threaded throughout each chapter of In the Morning Light, using their own words taken from a documentary, a news program and their journals allowing them to tell their unique story of living and loving. Identical twins, Charlotte and Vanessa were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in the first year of life. I tried to think what would I want for them if it was me, and I wanted them to live as normal a life as possible, with hopes and dreams and not define themselves as a sick person first. Written and illustrated by Vanessa and Charlotte when they were twelve years old, Danny's Dream captures the wonders and spirit of being a child. We use cookies to collect information about how you use the Charity Commission Register of Charities and Digital Services, such as pages you visit.

Attending health appointments have previously been challenging but recently with the teams help they are going well Danny’s Dream and Christina have been a lifeline and I could not have picked a nicer bunch of people to support my son Danny’s Dream are doing a marvellous job with my son and he really enjoys going out with his PA’s. She was utterly intrigued by the fact this was possible and amazed that each of the 34 illustrations had been painted in this way. The little boy struggles to accept that he must now spend his life in a wheelchair, until one day he discovers a ‘magic’ chair.

Danny has so many supportive people surrounding him in the book, cheering him on and reminding him that he can achieve his dreams even if they are slightly different than his original ones. The advised age range is 3-8 but I'd probably start a little older having read it, and recommend it for age 5 and up, key stage 1 - it would be a lovely text to form a discussion about inclusivity and playground friendships, but we don't always need a topic or a theme to share stories, and this is a lovely story for anytime. You should always go for what you want to go for, so that you don't sit there and think 'I wish I had done that or tried this'--even if it doesn't work out at least you would have tried it.

We have also worked on a collaborative 3D piece of work; creating flower and leaf studies from life and a vase image using inktense watercolour pencils. Painting took longer to achieve, I found it difficult to control the paint, but because I wanted to take art to exam level at school, I had to start taking it more seriously and get the hang of it. As already mentioned, it was a tiny bit old for Ivy (who is 3) so we read it in small chunks as if it were a chapter book.

Before reading the story we looked through all of the artwork and talked about how long it must take to be able to paint such intricate pictures without the use of your hands – 2 whole years in fact! It’s aimed at a slightly older age group than the books I would normally recommend on this blog (probably best for those aged 5+) – but I’m sharing it because Ivy was fascinated by the illustrations and the story behind them. This series offers a wide range of age-appropriate, high-interest readers for children in Key Stage 2 and 3 who are struggling to make progress with their reading.
