About this deal

Running headbands are also a great way to absorb sweat from your head and stop it trickling down into your eyes. You can try on your headband at this point and if it’s too loose cut off some of the elastic to make them both shorter and tighter (just make sure to trim your 1/4″ elastic to that same length). Quick and easy installation– Some DIY skills are needed but let’s be honest, this is no match for your awesomeness. The only downside we could find is that it’s one-size-fits-all – our tester found it pretty tight against her head as she moved, and it was painful to wear headphones with it (though other runners found it to be loose).

This performance model from trail specialists Inov-8 is designed to deliver lightweight protection in all conditions. If you have a serger sewing machine, sew around the outside of the rectangle to keep the edges from fraying, and if you don’t have a serger, use a zig-zag stitch on your regular machine around the edges instead. Fold your smaller rectangle in half, longways, and sew down the length with a 1/2″ seam allowance making a tube with both ends open.Pull the headband down over your head, then slide the front up back up so that it sits just behind your hairline. You can try this method on non-stretchy, ribbon headbands that are connected with a small bit of elastic. Pin the two elastic ends overlapping where your headband seam is (see photo above on the right), fold your headband at that seam to find its middle point on the opposite end of the headband and pin the middle of the headband to the marked middle of the elastic so the elastic is evenly spaced. No need to baste, just go ahead and use more pins to attach the ruffled ribbon to the Velcro ribbon with WRONG sides together. Janet’s work has been featured on CBS, Brides Magazine, 100 Layer Cake, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Ireland Image Brides Magazine, and Elle Japan.

Tip: Wear the headband over your ears to keep it in place and to prevent it from sliding on your hair. With WRONG sides together, pin the ribbon you just sewed (with the Velcro) to the ribbon you want for the top of your headband (this is the part that will show when you’re wearing it). Back today with another terrific summertime accessory idea is the immensely talented Megan from The Homes I Have Made! For extra security, slide 1 bobby pin over the headband on each side of your head to prevent it from sliding back. Fully stretch out your headband (you may need a second pair of hands for this or find a small box or pillow to stretch it around) and then pin the elastic to the headband every 2-3″.

To do this properly you need to pull it out so it’s stretched and flat with the headband as you sew (keep one hand pulling away from you behind the needle and the other in front of the needle pulling forward towards you a little).
