About this deal

There is a provided petal lens hood and this clips nicely into place. Within the bayonet fit for the hood is a standard 62mm filter thread. There is a broad control ring that adjusts manual focus, be it in DMF setting where the focus point can be manually tweaked in AF or in the MF setting. This is an electronic ring and as usual, is utterly smooth in operation. Focusing is down to 0.19m or 0.62 feet, for a maximum magnification of 0.09x. Tip. If the moving distance is long, the camera may shake, so please shoot at a focal length between 35 and 100mm. Sell the kit you’re not using to MPB. Trade in for the kit you need to create. Buy used, spend less and get more. Buy. Sell. Trade. Create. This new prime lens is the world's first Autofocus 12mm lens compatible with E mount, which performs optimally on Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras.

Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS MFT Lens Review | ePHOTOzine Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS MFT Lens Review | ePHOTOzine

I love how well balanced this lens feels on the Sony a6000 series of cameras. At around 2/3 the weight of the Sony a6000, it’s very lightweight and feels good while shooting handheld.

Closing Thoughts:

Vignetting is the light falloff, or dark corners, found in an image. The vignetting on the Rokinon 12mm is strongest at f/2.0, but falls off considerable as I approach f/8. You can look at the corners at some of the photos in this review to see the vignetting on the 12mm. Most of the time when I’m shooting at f/2.0 I’m composing a shot in low light so the dark corners are hardly noticeable. This is another exposure issue that is very easy to correct for in post processing. Distortion The MTF chart shows a good sharpness in the center, with – at full aperture – a decent gradient at the corners, especially for the fine details. Of course, this can be expected at full aperture for an extreme wide angle. What the MTF curve does not show and what we are of course very curious about is how fast and how much the corners tighten when we stop down one or more stops. As soon as we have a copy of the Samyang AF 12mm F2 E in our test lab, we will of course test it and publish a full review. Would love to see a m43 prime lens between 7 and 9mm and f.28 or faster for a reasonable price. MF is fine with me especially if it brings cots down(I already own the excellent 7.5mm fisheye) - but the only real advantage of this Samyang 12mm is the f2.0 aperture. I am sure the Panasonic 12-32 is near enough as good at 12mm and offers autofocus too plus it costs slightly less. Of course, this remains the case in the Samyang AF 12mm F2 E. But thanks to the autofocus, you can now also use this lens very well for fast documentary photography and video. With this new lens and the arrival of the new Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 Di III-A RxD, Sony APS-C users can once again make a real wide-angle choice. The Tamron is one stop brighter than Sony’s own 10-18mm F4, but about twice as expensive than the Samyang AF 12mm F2 E. In the extreme wide angle position, it has hardly less wide angle than the Tamron, is smaller and lighter and above all a stop brighter, although of course it does not have the flexibility of the zoom. Samyang AF 12mm f/2 E Review | Incredible Value! - Shotkit

The existingSamyangmanual focus 12mm F2 is a benchmark lens that has been loved byastrophotography enthusiasts for years.Thenew AF 12mm F2 E adopts the Autofocussystem and a new modern design that goes beyond the frame of the existing manual focusmodel; it isevenmore optimised for astrophotography, adding convenience and functionality. Vignetting on this lens is visible but it is nicely graduated which makes it much more pleasing to the eye and can even be beneficial to some images. I’ve also been using the Sony 16mm prime lately. It’s super soft and not good for high quality prints, but very serviceable for ‘web use only’ photos on my hiking trip reports. Thanks for reviewing this lens, have been interested in it for a while and it sounds like a good performer.

Lab-test results for ultra-wide-angle lenses never tell the whole story, as the physical size of the test charts requires that images are shot from very close range. In our real-world tests, we found sharpness to be excellent in the central region of the frame even when shooting wide-open at f/2, and edge/corner-sharpness to be generally very good, rising to highly impressive levels at apertures between f/2.8 and f/8. For me, the most important thing to see in a camera or lens review is the ‘real life’ image quality. In this section I’ll talk about and show pictures to demonstrate the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0’s abilities in low light, flare, bokeh, vignetting, distortion, it’s ability to ‘get close’, and it’s performance while hiking outside. The optical design consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, with 1 hybrid aspheric, 1 aspherical and 3 ED elements. This appears to be the same structure as the mechanical 12mm F2.0, although Samyang claims it is a new design. What is certainly new is that the lens has three gaskets to keep moisture and dust out. For a purely mechanical lens that was not very important, but for a version with the necessary electronics and an AF motor that’s very nice. The Samyang AF 12mm F2 E also has a protective glass at the rear. The Samyang AF 12mm F2 E is equipped with a new UMC (Ultra Multi Coating) that replaces the SNC (Super Nano Coating) of its predecessor. The aperture has 7 blades, and the lens comes with a tulip-shaped, removable lens hood. FOCUSING With the improved coatings and quality on this lens, almost all the complaints about chromatic aberration and coma have been solved when comparing it to the older manual focus design. While shooting outside, I haven’t had too much of an issue with flares. The Rokinon 12mm comes with a lens hood that I don’t use due to the constraints of my hiking camera bag. You can see what the flares look like in the image below. They are very easy to remove in post processing. Marshall Canyon Bokeh Now you can capture every moment, day and night. This compact and lightweight lens havea short minimum focusing distance, weather sealing and a quiet, smooth AF system forstills andvideo. It’s a mostly plastic design with a metal mount. It comes with a nice compact case that will certainly keep it protected as well. It has new modern designs such as matt finishing and a hidden red ring. An ergonomically designed grip with a micro pattern rubber ring maximizes the usability. A weather-sealing feature and a rear protective glass prevent dust, light rain, and snow from penetrating. Sun stars are visible around f/11 and get better at f/16. The seven-bladed aperture on this lens makes much nicer sun stars than the previous manual focus version. The build quality of this lens is excellent. It feels very solid, despite weighing only 245g. The lens mount is metal and the lens is also compact for a lens with a bright f/2 maximum aperture. This makes the lens a perfect companion for more compact Micro Four Thirds bodies and it balances well with the P anasonic Lumix GX7 used for testing.

Samyang’s similarly new AF 24mm F1.8 FE autofocus wide-angle prime for Sony full-frame cameras has some neat handling extras, including a customizable focus hold button and customizable dual-mode operating switch, plus an LED indicator for setting the focus distance to infinity (useful for astrophotography). None of these extras are available in the smaller 12mm lens, so handling is more straightforward but is nevertheless perfectly intuitive. Performance Typically I don’t even consider buying manual focus lenses anymore. There are so many good options that come with autofocus at very affordable prices that it’s not worth sacrificing the utility of autofocus. When hiking outdoors, I still prefer to use my Sony 10-18mm, as I almost never feel limited by it’s range of f/4. Still, the Rokinon 12mm has proven to be a very serviceable hiking lens, too. I’ve used the Rokinon on a number of hiking outings and the results are on par with my Sony 10-18mm. Shade And Sunlight San Gabriels View From Mt. Wilson Sierra Madre When it comes to distortion, the lens is well controlled and the Lightroom correction profile makes it a non-issue. I shoot with my Sony 10-18mm most of the time for ease of use with autofocus and auto aperture. When I look at my EXIF data, I’m almost always in the 10-14mm range. If I want to get closer to an object, I tend to do so with my feet since I’m so used to shooting with primes. This isn’t always possible when in the mountains, so I occasionally shoot at 18mm. The problem is that 18mm is still very wide and not ideal for getting close to things that are far away.

OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G review

The lens has so far only been announced in a version for Sony cameras. An uncoupled mount is easily interchangeable, but that doesn’t apply to the algorithms for the autofocus. The addition of autofocus makes this lens highly versatile. The mechanical version was already very good for landscape photography and astrophotography. The latter is due to the high brightness, which in astrophotography means the shutter speeds can remain short and the sensitivity of the camera low. MPB puts photo and video kit into more hands, more sustainably. Every month, visual storytellers sell more than 20,000 cameras and lenses to MPB. Choose used and get affordable access to kit that doesn’t cost the earth. Today we speak mainly of power and heat dissipation and energy efficiency... According to the latter, the energy efficiency of a flagship camera (A1 et al.) followed by a PC for PPS in LR/PS is abysmal for RAW->JPG processing vs. a phone with CP... Note that the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 can also be found listed as the Samyang 12mm f/2.0. There is no difference with these two lenses as they are exactly the same and differ in name only. **
