About this deal

One of my favourite arcade games is Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, and this also played very well on the SMART. The fact that you can even pause and save your gameplay was great as I often find myself having small bouts of gameplay on these handhelds when sat around waiting for appointments or in a cafe. This level of hardware allows for decent SNES emulation with exceptions for games such as Yoshi’s Island in which I am only able to achieve 14 FPS. Many PS1 games run at an acceptable speed as long as you’re not too sensitive to frameskip. For most systems below these you’re good, and both GBA and Mega Drive are great on this hardware. BUILD QUALITY AND CONTROLS So overall, I was very impressed with the TRIMUI SMART. It’s well made, very portable and easy to use. Image quality was bright, clear and ideal for this size of device. The number of games included gave me plenty of choice and had some of the best and most popular arcade games available. To get a feel for how well the Trimui Smart can run, I tested out a variety of homebrew games for the NES, SNES, GB, GBC, and GBA. Finally, the Trimui Smart features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to enable multiplayer play between devices. This is an absolutely awesome feature in a device like this, and they were kind enough to send me two of them to try it out… but I never got it to work. Final Thoughts

Ooooo I'm getting nostalgic just reading this Article. I remember over 10 years ago when I first got into Obscure… Simple to install, just extract the zip file as instructed and copy everything to your sdcard, overwriting whatever is needed. IMPORTANT: First boot should take 5-10min since a lot of files are being copied Instructions The Trimui Smart is a new handheld from one of the quieter manufacturers of handheld emulation devices. Their prior device was the Trimui Model S, and bragged about its tiny form factor and retro, semi-transparent aesthetic.

Most people will compare this with the Miyoo Mini. Whilst the Miyoo was vertical, the SMART is horizontal in design. It was also a great quality product. Small resoluition (< about 384 x 240) performance improve. High resolution (some PS 512x480), please use old SDL version. I sold my gameboy micro a long time ago and always regretted it. Now this little handheld fills the void perfectly. I’ll get something else when I want to play higher end systems but as a Genesis/SNES/GBA machine it works great for me. Reply Unfortunately, the 320×240 resolution on the IPS LCD display never fits quite right. The GameBoy Advance is always my starting point for these handhelds, and it ran at 240×160. The problem, for those who don’t spend way too much time thinking of these sorts of things, is that you want to be able to scale an image up in whole numbers to keep things looking as accurate as possible. If you doubled the dimensions of a GBA image to 480×320, then each pixel of the original image could just become 4 pixels in the new version and it would effectively look the same. Without a whole value to multiple, things get muddied and weird. TRIMUI has recently released the TRIMUI Smart console, which is yet another micro console to hit the retro gaming scene. Thanks to Gogamegeek for providing me with the handheld for review purposes.

Instant archiving:All simulators support instant archiving, with 9 archive locations for each game. First up, I want to talk about the Trimui Smart’s always-good-but-never-quite-perfect screen. 2.4” is a very small screen. I spend most of my handheld gaming time on a GameBoy Advance SP, a PlayStation Vita, or a Nintendo Switch Lite. Shifting down to such a small display was tough, but the screen seems to be really sharp and I actually found it surprisingly readable, even in text-dense SNES games. Screen Issues Using integer scaling means the image is actual size on a pixel by pixel basis at which point this screen is even smaller than the GameBoy Micro Issues With Loading Save States (GB/GBC/GBA/NES/Some Arcade...Other Platforms Were Fine. This Will Likely Be Fixed In The Future Trimui (pronounced ‘trim u.i.’, by the way) has seen a lot of success with their micro/affordable consoles, the Trimui Mini and the Trimui Smart.Does this have software or hardware shutdown? Probably a daft question, but if it had hardware shutdown it could be suitable for my youngest daughter. No dreamcast support? 1.6 ghz should be enough for most games. Also there are tons of games for dreamcast without… Talking about settings, when you go to them, you will notice that you can connect to Netplay, as well as use the SMART as a hotspot. This is useful so that you can play against others who may have the same console. You can also connect Bluetooth headphones to the console too, which you will need to do if you want to listen through headphones. You can also change the CPU frequency too, which will help give the SMART a little more power if you find some of the PS1 games a struggle to play. Add your roms in the apropriate Roms folders and all the artwork in Imgs folder on root in the apropriate folders that have been pre created.
