About this deal

Well done with the lettuce too! It’s time now to start planning your Autumn veggies and lettuce and radishes are ideal to sow now. You can also start some carrots as they take around 12-15 weeks to develop so that’s another option. The Vegtrug is a raised vegetable trough planter that sits off the ground on legs. It is the easy way to have your own vegetable gardenanywhere, from outdoors on patios, porches and balconies, to indoors in greenhouses, polytunnels or even in the house. It stands at a comfortable waistheight and is wheelchair accesible. The extra height also protects vulnerable vegetableseedlings from household pets. The timber used is sustainably sourced fir and is treated in vegetable gardening friendlystain to prevent rot. A membrane liner also comes with the vegtrug to offer a little extra protection. This 1.8m trug holds 420l of growing medium.

Row 3 – Parsnips non-existent – Carrot’s came out in miniature (mainly about 3 cm long a 5mm diameter – great for hamster) Carrots do better in finer soils but the fact that they grew but were small, could be down to a few factors. The new and improved Medium 1.8m Wallhugger Greenhouse Frame and Multi Cover Set is made up of a connecting metal frame manufactured from zinc powder coated steel.Like our Vegi-Table planter, all the Vegtrugs 1m, 1.8m and aluminium models are wheelchair accessible. Always remember if you are working from a seated position to work sideways (over the arm rest), rather than to the front as this prevents accidental falling and less reaching is required.

Row 5 – Broccoli had a very limited crop (2 or 3 heads), rest bolted and went to seed before I could get to it. Cauli bolted and didn’t develop heads. kneeling is a bit of an issue but so is getting up afterwards and so the vegtrug opens up new possibilities for me. No more relying on family and friends to plant, water, weed, and harvest my crops because I’m not able. With the vegtrug it will all be accessible for me to do and with less slug and snail damage. Preventing Slug And Snail Damage Get some radish seeds and start sowing them now, they take around 6 weeks from sowing to harvest and are incredibly easy to grow (watch out for the cabbage white butterflies as they’re partial to radish leaves too). Easy to assemble from detailed instructions and diagrams, the Frame and Multi Cover Set is the perfect solution to extending your VegTrug growing season. The PE greenhouse cover provides excellent insulation for your plants and soil, warming them up and letting in lots of light for developing seedlings. Designed with ergonomics in mind, the raised and unique V-shape simultaneously allows for shallow and deep growth, a posture-saving working height and easy wheelchair access. The V-shape, partnered with our biodegradable liner, also allows for deep aeration of your crops' root systems and ensures proper drainage. Raised Height Prevents the Need to Bend. With a standing height of 80cm, the VegTrug Planter offers the ideal working height without bending, and compromising your posture. The height is also perfect for wheelchair users, meaning everyone can grow their own produce.

Thanks for your comment, parsnips are notoriously difficult to grow in any conditions so don’t feel bad about not getting any.The cover can then be opened on both sides using the double zip to reveal the micro mesh element during the summer to protect from pests. The simple zip system ensures easy access to your crops for watering, harvesting and caring for them. Features and Benefits It is possible to grow squash plants in the vegtrug, however due to the sprawling nature of Winter squash, I would only grow Summer squash in there. Summer squash like courgettes (zucchini) and patty pans grow in a more compact, bush like manner. This means they will take up less space and the fruits will remain above ground level with less chance of damage. Covers in 1– The PE cover warms up the soil in early spring, letting in lots of light for developing seedlings. The Micromesh cover creates a barrier to exlude insects pests and birds, accurate ventilation and humidity for all conditions. Over filling can cause problems for sure as can too much water (or too little) and also growing the wrong combinations can be problematic although that doesn’t seem to be the case in your vegtrug.

Then I stumbled across this post, and note your trug filling composition. We just threw pure compost in – didn’t think about different soils and mixes 🙁 Am guessing that Parsnips and Carrots don’t like the chunkiness of compost, and need a finer soil mix around them. Does this sound right? The new and improved Medium 1.8m Classic Greenhouse Frame and Multi Cover Set is made up of a connecting metal frame manufactured from zinc powder-coated steel. The cover can then be opened on both sides using the double zip to reveal the micro mesh element during the summer to protect from pests. The simple zip system ensures easy access to your crops for watering, harvesting and caring for them. The VegTrug was designed to bring grow-your-own to everyone, whether you have a garden or not. Small spaces, balconies and courtyards are all perfect places for the Classic (though the Wall Hugger goes even smaller!)
