About this deal

Once we move to larger diameters and stiffer material, like steel, then machine power becomes essential and draw bending is the normal forming method used. The key difference is that the tooling pulls or draws the tube around the former tool. In fact, rather than the tube being clamped behind the former it is clamped to the former and the clamp and former rotate with the tube drawn around the former in an arc behind it, just pressed to the former by a pressure die. We believe the 1215K-XV, the 1315XVE, the 1315Longarm-XVL, the 1222G-XXII and the 1322Extended-XXIIE are easier to use than a combi bender: The primary function of a pipe bender is to bend pipes. Simply insert a pipe into the tool, then close the levers to carefully bend the pipe to the correct angle. Pipe benders work by enclosing the pipe around a hard 'shoe'. The user then pulls the level as necessary to pressure the pipe into forming a perfect bend around the shoe. throating occurs on testing with the XV, XVE (XVL) XXII, XXIIE as well as Monument 2600K and a Hilmor® GLM A. Over the years been a few reasons, main reason I find or is poor quality copper! Other reason dirt on the guides generally a good clean and oil or dw40 sorts it out, had once with bender that had been dropped and it was slightly twisted (Answered by B H heating solutions on 26 Jan 2021)

If you need a very gentle curve, ie a large radius of curvature, then draw bending ceases to be feasible since the size of the tooling (and the machine to mount it on) becomes prohibitive. This is where roll bending, sometimes called push bending, comes into play. The 2600K includes 15mm and 22mm aluminium guides. These guides are available as spares;15mm 2601N and 22mm 2603T. These guides also fit Irwin® and Hilmor® GLM. Pipe benders are used when piping needs to bend to fit around an obstacle, or through a gap. Bespoke automakers often use them to bend exhaust pipes and other automotive accessories into shape.

When choosing a pipe bender, you'll be faced with a few options. Many pipe benders or tube bender kits will be designed for a specific job or application, so choose wisely. The Monument Masters 1215K-XV, 1315-XVE, 1315Longarm-XVL , 1222G-XXII and 1322Extended-XXIIE create similar bend radiuses to a Monument 2600K combi bender; in fact the 1222G has a slightly tighter radius that the 2600K combi bender, as this radius is tighter it creates a slightly different profile on the outside of the bend when compared to a combi. Mark the pipe where you want start of the bend. Position the pipe in the Former under the Retaining Hook. Position the start of bend vertically in line with the Pivot Pin. XV is much smaller than a combi; arm length is 40cm compared to a combi arm length of 65cm. Note the 15mm XVL & 22mm XXII arm lengths are about 60cm If you need more than one bend in your tube the next question to consider is can they all be to the same radius.

Ridgid Pipe Bender 5/8" RIDGID CODE 310

Some thin wall (relative to diameter or material specification) tubing is liable to collapse when bent and with a draw bending process (in contrast to compression bending) it is possible to support the tube at the point where the bending is taking place by inserting a mandrel down the centre of the tube. For this reason draw bending is sometimes referred to as mandrel bending. Roll Bending lighter in the hand than a combi. The Monument combi weighs more than 4kg; the XV weighs 1.5kg; the XXII weighs 2.3kg

We have included bending angles of 30 45 60 and 90 degrees on the XV and XVL 15mm versions and an additional 75 degree angle on the 22mm version; these are easily visible on the Former of each bender. They're designed for reliability, durability, and strength, with many professionals getting decades of use from their tube bender kits. There is no maximum limit to the radius from roll bending, except of course leaving the tube straight, which is the same as an infinite bend radius! Place the Lever Arm over the positioned pipe and place the Lever Hook onto the Pivot Pins, ensure the Nylon Guide is seated. Every tube bender will have a different set of draw bend radius tooling based on previous jobs that they have done, but by far the most common will be in line with the first rule of thumb;A. Cheap thin wall copper doesn’t help the issue, there was a batch a few years ago that was actually snapping. Damaged formers or the guide on bender itself can also do it. Or guides, formers that are not clean (Answered by PG Plumbing on 26 Jan 2021)
