About this deal

Learn from my mistakes* I initially made the length of the hood way too long and the costume flopped all around my son’s shoulders. I later cut off the front of the hood to fix my mistake. To avoid this, for the length of the hood, you want to make it maybe 2.5 or 3 times the depth of the child’s body so that there’s room, but not too much room. I also decided to add details and add a fender for these wheels. The details for the costume really make it. To wear the thighs, you need a belt around your waist. put on the thighs and then use the string to tie them to the belt. This way, they do not fall when you are walking around. Christ if it weren't for the whiny final fantasy/kingdom hearts fans, we would be THE biggest group of whiners as a whole in regards to a fan base.

The next foamular part is the area below the grille. This area is much easier as you will not need to shape or sand the pieces. All you need to do is simply cut out pieces to cover the area below the grill, keeping a small rectangle at bottom, and glue them on the same way (pic #11 for reference). Head Shot wrote:for the people complaining about the wrong head, go make yourself a better full body, fully transforming bee costume then. We added squares to each side for shoulders. they do not have a top at this point in time. we added 2 styrofoam squares to have the shoulder lid rest there. (pic 1)After some tweeking, we decided to cut the shoulders off and attach them to the lid with elastic. That way, the wearer can put their arms up and down. At this point in the process, your costume's basic form and transformation action is completely finished (yay!), but you still have to make the heart and soul of the costume: the exterior look. This step will include creating the grille, hood, fenders, and roof. For this step, I cannot really give any measurements, as everything I did was based on visual appeal as I was going. SORRY-in the pictures one of my lights fell off…i noticed just now, If you scroll at the bottom… you’ll find links to see my costume in a better way).

Tools for cutting and shaping foamular. I originally used an electric knife to do the carving, but I actually found it much easier to use a steak knife for cutting out of shapes and a chef's knife for shaping. By the way, you can get a lot of inspiration from these these cool ready-made transformer costumes!) At this point I should point out that I used tape to put everything together just because I thought it was so much easier to work with. Because I was eyeballing everything, nothing was straight or fit perfectly, which would have made gluing a huge nightmare. As you can see from the second photo on top, there are some gaps between the pieces because not everything was flush and straight. There’s no way glue would have held things together for me. You could always cover the gaps with some paper before painting if you wanted to. Rear Bumper, Trunk, and Roof The hood is curved so the front of the panel is curved. Now that I’m done, I wish I had the sense to just cut it straight down at an angle. It would have been so much easier and it would have looked fine. I found that it’s so much harder to work with the curved pieces. To start off, I think you should definitely familiarize yourself with the costume. Understand all the pieces, how the costume moves, which pieces are permanently connected, which pieces swing, and which pieces should not be connected at all. I feel this step is really important so you don’t get confused along the way. I watched a ton of videos and looked at a lot of pictures of transforming costumes. Ultimately, this YouTube video from a channel called “I Am Bentley” is the one I based my costume off of.Electric sander for smoothing the foamular. I guess you could use sandpaper, but it would be really, really hard, and take forever if you could even do it. I placed both pieces together upright and played with the placement. The closer I put the piece together, the taller the roof of the car would curve. I ended up trimming off from of the length of the roof so that the length of the car wouldn’t be too long and the roof wouldn’t be too tall. I added two triangular pieces to the hood opening so that it would stay open a little even when closed. Draw and Cut Wheels

add an additional strip around the bottom of the thigh so that the calf piece and be attached to it. (pic 2,A)Bumblebee’s calf is just a rectangle. It is just slightly wider than the strip underneath the thigh.

Headlights (I used two small bowls. You can use round tap lights, coasters, anything at all that’s heavy enough.) To make the headlights, cut off the top of your soda bottle. basically you need the portion that the cap screws into. (pic 4, Fig 1)

Besides they repainted the prime helmet because that helmet came out before the bumblebee helmet, theyve probably been using that costume for awhile at that dealership, and the helmet has a voice changer to make the guy inside sound more robotic for talking. Multiple sheets of "Foamular", a rigid insulation material for carving details. I got mine at Home Depot. Also, this costume doesn’t work well at all with stairs. Going up stairs is fine, but going down doesn’t work. Maybe you will be able to overcome this obstacle with your design. I’ll show you what I did right and what I did wrong. Hopefully, I can make this really easy for you. Making a Homemade Transformer Costume The thighs are basically boxes (pic 1). They are just angled in and there is a little section cut out if you are a dude for your :;ahem:;.
