About this deal

The successor to the original Leviathan, this V2 variation looks to improve and take things further than what came before - and it largely succeeds, but not without a couple of small caveats.

You can mess with different EQ presets in G Hub and I found those to be beneficial when switching between movies, games and albums. It should be noted that after I fixed the volume issues, this system can now get very loud. Cranking these speakers up to maximum insanity can literally shake the house, so if you end up grabbing a set, use them with care and a healthy bit of restraint.Wired speakers are a reliable option and easy to set up, but they aren't right for everyone. Some gamers may not have room nearby their PCs for speakers, while others may prefer a more flexible setup that allows them to put speakers wherever they want (such as shelves positioned closer to your ears). Here's where wireless speakers come in, and none are quite as good as these Audioengine models. The RGB lighting ring under the speakers is a really nice touch, and once again it feels like these computer speakers are rather tastefully designed. Perhaps the best bit of the Nommo Chroma design is that one speaker offers volume and bass knobs, which really help keep the noise down at night if you don't want to wake up your bedfellows. The Sound Blaster Katana V2 is a significant upgrade from last year's model with a sleeker look and, more importantly, better-sounding tweeters and subwoofer. They're well placed to face your ears while gaming at a desk and pretty powerful. The GP9 pretty much does everything and then some, which would explain the super-high price point. But if you are looking for an incredibly versatile gaming speaker that sounds incredible and can do it all. The built-in microphone is nice, but I don't see it replacing a headset/microphone combo for team games that require a little more coordination. The best computer speakers FAQ Do I need a 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 setup? Note: as this has been superceded by the V2 (above), and V2 Pro, we aren't sure how long and how readily available this Leviathan will be going forward. Best computer speakers: FAQs Which is the best speaker for computer?

Another feature you won't find in other entries on the list is that this Bluetooth speaker has a built-in mic for voice chat. Between work calls and Discord chatting, my voice was clear and sounded good. If you're someone who hates wearing headsets all day, it's a nice feature. You'll mostly find 2.1 setups for the PC market covering just left/right channels and a subwoofer—perhaps more often than that, even devoid of a subwoofer for a 2.0 setup. That's mainly because that fits the bill for a desktop and monitor, with the speakers in front of the user for decent stereo sound. Who's it for: Gamers who want excellent sound, but also prefer to complement their battle stations with extra RGB lighting.

Connectivity

The Logitech G560 is a 2.1 PC speaker set with RGB lighting. It features the company’s new Lightsync technology, which changes the colour of the light to reflect what’s going on in your game, or to match what’s on your monitor. Living room speaker setups and home cinema systems will take that a little further, often offering at least five surrounding speakers in most cases. You could hook such a system up to your PC and find decent support for such a configuration, but we're hesitant to recommend such a setup due to the sheer number of wires involved around a single desk. It doesn't bear thinking about. That's one of the key benefits over the much cheaper Creative Pebble Plus, but don't ignore their simple and effective design. The Logitech's two tweeters come with small stands for your desk, and the subwoofer is compact enough to not take up to much space under your desk.

Every manufacturer wants to get behind RGB lightning. Logitech is among one of the last to enter the game – pun intended. It follows Creative and Razer to be yet another big name-manufacturer to offer built-in customisable and colourful lighting. Deciding on the best PC speakers isn't the simplest task. First you need to figure out how much space you have to spare on your desk. It'll give you an idea of the kind of speaker footprint that's feasible for your setup, or whether you need to get tidying in anticipation. If you have the space under your desk then you should go for the typical 2.1, left/right speaker setup with a subwoofer on the floor. For our money, the best PC speakers are the Logitech G560, they deliver great sound, and look pretty funky while doing it, too. While the lighting was a huge factor in the immersion aspect, the precision of the positional audio really impressed us too. We don't normally like the virtual surround of 7.1 digital gaming headsets but were pleasantly surprised with how well DTS:X worked with the G560, especially while trying to pinpoint where we were being shot at in Fortnite. It's the perfect compromise if you want surround sound without the hassle of a 5.1 or 7.1 set. This speaker set is based on an MTM configuration with two midrange drivers with dual woven glass fiber cones on the top and bottom of each satellite face. Between these drivers is a cloth dome tweeter. Both satellites have an opening on the top — the BasXPort — providing all the bass, eliminating the need for a subwoofer, which can help save on room in more limited situations. Since both speakers and soundbars can offer a similar audio experience, it all comes down to your desktop. If you've little space to spare, a pair of computer speakers will be best suited. Whereas a soundbar can take up a long stretch behind or under your monitor. That said, a soundbar can work a treat with monitors on arms or mounted off the desk. The end result is relatively subdued and classy. Not too much, not too little, and it can all be controlled via Logitech’s G Hub software. You can have the lighting dynamically react to audio, morph according to what’s happening on-screen through sampling, or if you’re boring like me, hold to one fixed color. To be honest, I found the fancier options to be downright distracting.

When the system is connected to your computer by USB and Logitech’s Gaming Software is installed you can customize the lighting zones on your display, the function of the assignable button, adjust a 10-band EQ for the sound and create custom equalizer profiles, and enable the DTS:X Ultra virtual surround sound. DTS:X is the successor to DTS-HD Master Audio. Within the Logitech Gaming Software, settings can be saved to separate profiles that can be used for specific games, when listening to music, or for watching movies. If you have any other RGB Logitech peripherals, you can also sync the lighting across all of your accessories. The 240-watt speakers offer excellent audio quality without the need to take up space with a subwoofer, ensuring you'll be able to hear (and often feel) every rumble, musical cue, and crash of sound. Most of the audio elements can be adjusted with Logitech's sound software, so you can create a profile that's a perfect fit for your games or enable sound-enhancing modes. The DTS:X surround sound format is supported for PCs as well! If you don't want to stretch your budget to the flashier Logitech G560 speaker set, the company's much more tame Z407 set offers a great alternative for less money. They're effectively a similar set of two tweeters and a subwoofer but ditch all the gamer stylings and lights of the fancier kit. The bass can't crank up as high as some on this list, but at least the automatic gain control keeps it distortion-free for the most part.Navigate to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\LGHUB, where [USERNAME] will be specific to your account. The G560 comes with a very powerful down-firing subwoofer which proved to be amazing for things like explosions but became quite overpowering at low volumes while listening to music. Adjustments in the software help a little but you're on your own if you've connected to bluetooth.
