About this deal

My wife and I gave that question some considerable thought before we settled on a banker. I grew up in Shoreham, a small town in England, in the sixties, and the local bank manager was a friend of my father's. So I thought I'd get away with it for a couple of weeks.' William tried to remember how much he'd received when he changed a hundred pounds into dollars just before he'd joined the ship the previous evening. But he hesitated for too long. In that case,' continued the young man, not looking convinced, 'you'll be able to tell me what the exchange rate was between the dollar and the pound when the currency market opened this morning.'

This sounds all wonderful and intruiging and Archer is still someone who knows how to captivate the reader, but I thought the whole book a little unbalanced. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but certain parts of the story seemed not to have anything to do with other parts. The timing looked a bit off because I expected certain parts of the story to be in other places, and there were sometimes too many repetitions of facts and figures and storylines. The Clifton Chronicles is divided into seven novels that are Only Time Will Tell (2011), The Sins of the Father (2012), Best Kept Secret (2013), Be Careful What You Wish For (2014), Mightier Than the Sword (2015), Cometh the Hour (2016) and This Was a Man (2016). While on the cruise ship, a suspicious death takes place prompting some detective work to be done by William. He also happens to make the acquaintance of a young American, an aspiring policeman himself, whose family happens to own the cruise ship company they’re sailing with. There’s a definite feeling that we’re going to hear more about this young man in future books in the series. But, the most ridiculous subplots included one of the cops falling in love with a sex worker; they end up getting married because she's pregnant. Seriously. But why choose a banker as your cover?' asked the young man. 'Because I have the feeling you wouldn't know the difference between a spreadsheet and a balance sheet.' William follows his father’s path, Richard Kane, to be a successful banker. When William turned into a child, Richard died in the Titanic disaster, leaving William fatherless and inheritor of the Kane & Cabot financial institution. 2] The Clifton Chronicles

William put the book he was reading on the table in front of him and took a closer look at the earnest young American who seemed desperate not to be thought of as a child, although he hadn't started shaving. The word 'preppy' immediately came to mind.Over My Dead Body is fast paced and kept me spellbound from beginning to end. It's not often that I will listen to an audiobook in two days, but I had my earbuds in every chance I had. It's brilliantly written, with plots and subplots, twists, turns and drama. I frequently had my heart in my mouth, and at one point I called out a very loud and anguished, 'Nooo!' If you read Over My Dead Body, and I hope that you do, you will know exactly at which point I did this.

DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Harper Collins UK Audio via Netgalley for providing an audio ARC of Over My Dead Body for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions. A big thank you to Harper Collins Audio for the chance to listen to and review this audio version on Over my dead body by Jeffrey Archer and read by George Blagden who is an extremely good narrator with some excellent voices. It was a joy to listen to and cant wait until the next book is released. The book tells the testimonies of guys born worlds apart. They don’t have anything in common besides the same date of birth and an eagerness to reach life. William Lowell Kane is a rich and effective elite magnificence, whilst Abel Rosnovski is a pole who was born in a scenario of wonderful poverty and finally migrated to the United States.Harry Clifton remains determined to get Anatoly Babakov released from a gulag in Siberia, following the international success of his acclaimed book, Uncle Joe. But then something unexpected happens that none of them could have anticipated.

THE AUTHOR: Jeffrey Howard Archer, Baron Archer of Weston-super-Mare (born 15 April 1940) is an English author and former politician. Over forty years, he has mastered the shady deal and by the 1960s is a millionaire. Taking advantage of the British, he chose to permit groups to say the North Sea oil drilling rights with little cash down. Metcalfe creates Prospecta Oil, a paper organization designed to appear accurate and produce in investors, to be left striking to dry whilst the lowest drops out. 4] A Prisoner of Birth (2008)In the year 1951, Archer won a scholarship to Wellington School in Somerset. Archer left the school with O-levels in art, history, and English Literature. Before working as a physical education teacher, he spent a few years in various jobs. This is where it lost me - William is asked to investigate. Of course, all roads (or seas) lead to this being a murder and ultimately to his nemesis Faulkner and ever-present extremely annoying Booth-Watson.
