About this deal

Hades struggles to find support in his personal life, with Zeus trivializing his feelings and Minthe resorting to abusive patterns in their relationship. And while Hades tries to create healthier boundaries where he can-like finally putting a stop to his sporadic, revenge-fueled hookups with Hera-he still feels lonely and adrift. a b c Freeman, Molly (October 10, 2019). a b Beat Staff (July 22, 2023). "SDCC '23: The 2023 Eisner Awards Winners". The Beat . Retrieved July 25, 2023. A form of media where Zeus is portrayed as a piece of shit and the scum of scums that he really is? Win.

I really liked this book! This was a great retelling of Hades and Persephone with a modern twist. This graphic novel follows Persephone as she tries to find her place in Olympus and continues to develop feelings for Hades. Persephone and Hades must untangle their past to move towards a brighter future. Again, this may be due to the fact that this has been miscategorized as something someone who enjoys regular comics would want to read.

This is a refreshingly modern and surprisingly poignant take on the Hades and Persephone myth. Not only does Rachel Smythe’s talent as an illustrator shine in Lore Olympus but also her skill with weaving a steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional retelling.” —Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash eros asking aphrodite why she's jealous of an adorable pink cinnamon roll 🤣🤭 so true tho why does she have to be?? lol. I don't want to just descend into laughing at things teenage girls like - it's condescending sexist shittiness.

This is one of the GoodReads choice award winners where I was like, "YESS, THIS IS THE ONE THAT SHOULDA WON" In addition to the episodes previously published on WEBTOON, Volume One , Volume Two, and Volume Three each include one never-before-seen short story as a bonus chapter. The bonus chapter is in every edition of the book regardless of format.

i just couldn't stop scrolling through this so fast, bc it was soo addicting. i really loved reading this sm!! 💕

Hermes is the god of speed and travel, depicted as a muscular red athlete. He was friends with Persephone before she came to Olympus and frequently hangs out at Artemis and Persephone's house. He is one of Hades' soul collectors at Underworld Corp. He loves three things, money, his Mother, Maia, and annoying Apollo. Witness what the gods do after dark in the second volume of a stylish and contemporary reimagining of one of the best-known stories in Greek mythology from creator Rachel Smythe. But, I did think it was uniquely terrible (which is also the only unique thing about it, come to think of it). Asclepius is a demigod and son of Apollo. He is the god of medicine and works as a physician. Asclepius is presented as a light purple, bald man. He is known to confide others private matters to his father, most likely as a result of Apollo forcing him to do so; for example, telling Apollo about Hades' sterility.

Apollo is the god of the sun, music, and prophecy, depicted as a dark purple, burly playboy who is interested in Persephone. He is shown to be very arrogant. He rapes her and believes that they are in a relationship and then tries to force her to become his wife, but she refuses. He is Artemis' twin brother. It is later revealed that he is one of Zeus' sons. It is implied that he wants to be with Persephone, not because he genuinely likes her, but because she is a fertility goddess that he can use to overthrow Zeus. the art in this is just my favorite ever. i rly don't think i'd love the webtoon as much if it weren't for the unique style and colors. there were panels that i'd straight up just buy as wall art Lore Olympus is written and illustrated by New Zealander Rachel Smythe (aged 37–38). Smythe graduated with a graphic design degree and sought to enter the creative industry without success, and went into marketing. Smythe learned about the Webtoon app in 2016, shortly after which she began publishing The Doctor Foxglove Show - a sequel to her former attempt at a longform series, The Doctor Pepper Show - until it was discontinued after two chapters, the last of which was posted to the Webtoon Discovery section (now called 'Canvas') on June 12th, 2016. Roughly a year later, in April 2017, she began drawing Lore Olympus, which began on Tumblr. Chaos reigns in Olympus as Zeus publicly declares Persephone a traitor and issues a warrant for her arrest. But Hades defies his brother’s decree, sheltering Persephone in the Underworld—and as the pair spend more time together, they are able to speak openly about their pasts. The goddess of spring admits the truth behind the bloody secret that led to Zeus’s ire, and the king of the Underworld shares the trauma he suffered at the hands of his power-hungry father, Kronos. The ending was extremely intense, though. Definitely a lot more heavy than what I ever thought we would get considering the light tone of the rest of the story. Metis is the titan of wisdom. She is depicted as a giant orange women with wings. She was a fertility goddess and because of her incredible abilities she was consumed by Zeus so he could overthrow Kronos. She is the mother of Hera, Hestia and Demeter. She reveals to both Persphone and Hades that she turned herself into a star, as she was about to be consumed by Zeus. She also had an intimate relationship with him. Kronos is the titan of time. He is depicted as a gigantic man with skin that looks like the night sky. He was a tyrannical leader and when Hades was six-years-old he swallowed his son and kept him imprisoned for thirteen years. Hades and Poseidon were eventually saved by Zeus and Kronos was eventually imprisoned in Tartarus. This event is still traumatizing for Hades. Kronos nearly escaped Tartarus when he was able to put all of the scarred traitors into long comas, and was able to possess the bodies of people in the Underworld, including Hermes, Hecate, and Hades. His plans were thwarted when Persephone ate from the pomegranate tree, became queen of the Underworld, and defeated him in combat.
