It requires a good amount of ingenuity, which is fun to exercise. Since the Starter Course itself is fairly small, there aren’t too many ways to configure it, but you still have plenty of options. The idea will come into its own, though, if you have any expansion kits. Your Super Mario course could be huge, with branching paths and multiple routes for Mario to travel through. Since there’s no right or wrong way to put it all together. It’s pretty neat. And, of course, there are Mario LEGO sets, from starter sets which need few instructions to put together, to more intricate builds that will require time and patience. Some of them feature Mario's friends and foes, too – from his brother Luigi to Toad, Bowser, Yoshi, Shy Guy, and those pesky Thwomps.

This 231-piece, collectible LEGO® toy playset makes a cool birthday or holiday gift for kids aged 6+ who can build and play their own way and learn to solve problems while having lots of creative fun. However, your age-range will make certain kits more worthwhile than others. To be precise, the Mario starter set is great for everyone because of the interactive figure and iconic elements it features, but other expansions (like the Master Your Adventure set) just provide extra tiles or revolve around gameplay. This means they'll be probably more appealing to a younger audience hoping to play through their own levels. Is Lego Mario sold separately? LEGO® Mario™ has a color sensor, plus LCD screens in his eyes, mouth and belly to display over 100 different instant reactions to movement. Also included is a speaker that plays iconic sounds and music from the video game. While the above sets are primarily aimed at little ones, LEGO knows that its beloved mascot has just as many adult fans, and a number of premium, big-build sets celebrate both Mario and Nintendo's long history, all of which look incredible on display.

I do not like this cheap trend of no printed instructions, and I don't like the idea of a company gathering data on my children. I will not buy any Lego without printed instructions. The amount of fun you can have with this is limited with just the Starter Course; it only takes about 20 seconds to travel around, despite your best intentions to drag it out. But once you start adding expansion kits in there, you can make a course that’s impossible to finish in the 60 seconds, adding an extra layer of challenge. Value for money? It’s also worth noting that lots of parts here are unique, which makes it an interesting prospect for collectors and those who like to have a huge range of parts available for MOCs.Our daughter is six years old and she found it very funny and easy to understand how to “play” the course. Great for solo play or group competitions, LEGO Super Mario sets bring a family-favorite character into the real world. This Starter Course and the Expansion Sets offer unlimited challenges and nurture problem-solving skills. So, why not treat yourself (or a friend) to a bit of Mario LEGO and celebrate him all year round – not just on March 10...
