About this deal

You can use almost any frosting to fill and top this cake. It will largely depend on your preferences and how you plan to store the cake. The buttercreams listed in my Cakeculator (Swiss meringue, condensed milk, etc.) will be the most stable. That means they'll easily hold up the cake and heavy toppings if you like.

I’d recommend choosing from my colorful printable number sheets for such a project to ensure these useful tools have a fun look to them. As a home baker, I didn't find any purpose in buying a special number pan that I'd probably only use once. My number cakes can be made using printable paper templates (located at the bottom of this post). For instance, If you want to use the numbers in a larger size, you could make a perpetual flip desktop calendar. These numbers would be perfect for a numbers banner, classroom calendar, a “class of YEAR” sign, or for creating activities to teach kids about counting and mathematics.By using my numbers instead of writing out the information, this will ensure that friends and family are better able to read the font, and it also makes the card more fun and creative. It will depend on the number that you choose. For instance a number "1" is going to have less servings than an "8". If you look at the number "2" I did in the lemon blueberry cake video above, that cake should give around 8-10 servings of cake. Generally speaking though, I think serving 6-9 adults with one number is a safe bet.

Or, if the party is a baby shower, you could make signs, invitations, and gift bags with the baby’s date of birth! For such an event, I recommend using my multicolored numbers (above). 6. Cake Decorating To play the game, hold up a number to your class (or children) for a few seconds, and then take it away. After, get the kids to write down what the number was. If you want to watch how I put a number cake together, here's a video tutorial on a lemon blueberry "2" cake. How to make a number cake Some activities could include memory games, flashcards, count and cover games, and other similar tasks. 3. ScrapbookingSome of the many things you can use these printable numbers for include classroom activities, party banners, flashcards, stencils, memory games, decorations, games, craft patterns, coloring in, maths activities, plus anything else you can think of! I know that's not always possible, so you can try using a simple syrup. Heat equal parts sugar and water until it comes to a boil and all the sugar has dissolved. You can add extracts or other flavorings, but that's a general way to make a syrup. Then, during assembly, you can brush the syrup onto your cakes. Keep reading this article to learn some uses for my printable numbers, such as activities they can be used for, how to implement them in crafts and decor, and other useful tips! 1. Kid’s Bedroom Decor If you prefer lighter frostings such as whipped creams, you'll have to chill the cake, which will also help with stability. You'll probably want to stabilize the whipped cream in some sort of way and I have a whole video on different methods. Any of them should work fine to stabilize the whipped cream enough to hold up the second layer as well as decorations. ( see video on whipped cream stabilizers here.) Decor really affects the atmosphere and cheerfulness of a bedroom, and you likely want your kid to feel their room is a fun place to be. So, why not use some of my printable numbers for decor?

Next, cut out the numbers and sort them into different denominations. The best way to play this game is to start with simple numbers and work up to more difficult figures. If you’re able to be creative with your sign (a café menu, for instance), fun bases like chalkboards, rustic wood, or rustic metal will add more personality and flair to it! 8. Stationery Number cakes are what I would classify as a naked cake. By that I mean that the sides are completely exposed. Naked cakes have a special consideration in that because the cake is continually exposed to air, you run the risk of a drying out the cake. Scrapbooking is a great activity to use my printable numbers for, as it presents an easy way to add dates, ages, titles, etc., that are easy to read! I recommend using my Printable Multicolored Numbers With Shadows (above) for a baby scrapbook, as the pastel colors would fit the theme perfectly! 4. DIY CalendarIf you need to make a sign for your work, classroom, or your home, you can use my printable numbers for this project! Great scrapbooks to use my printable numbers for are baby books, wedding albums, schoolwork albums, and other similar projects. Great ways to implement these numbers into your kid’s room is to make them into a fun calendar, or to create a numbers chart to help them with counting and math.
