About this deal

All in all, the Panasonic ES-LL41-K was a surprisingly comfortable and gentle shaver. Shaving longer, flat-lying hairs

Here is a table showcasing the most popular Panasonic Arc 4 models and the differences between them. Arc 4 Model An electric razor suitable for sensitive skin should also perform well on a longer beard (up to 4 days between shaving sessions). Wet & dry operation. Your skin may need some time to recover and heal before subjecting it again to a potentially irritating factor, like shaving. Panasonic says you should replace the outer foil every year and the inner blades every two years. These parts are also available separately, not just as a set: WES9087PC (foil) and WES9068PC (blades). With the wet & dry models, you must manually clean the shaver of any foam or lather before tossing them into the station. All Panasonic Arc 3 shavers are suitable for wet & dry operation. They’re also fully waterproof, so you can use them in the shower as well. This will eventually lead to more pressure being applied and will force you to do excessive passes, increasing the risk of razor burn and irritation. While some of them don’t look as posh as other newer shavers, I know from personal experience that they can take a serious beating and will last for years if you show them some love. Also, users in Europe should probably opt for the ES-LL41-K over the ES-LL21-K because as I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the former comes with two attachments. The Braun Series 9 Pro and Series 9, two of the most comfortable and effective electric razors out there.

On the other hand, there are a few dry-only Braun Series 3 models that will also work with the cord plugged in. The Panasonic Arc 4 is in my opinion the most underrated line of electric shavers that is still in production. I just tried a wet shave and this was worse. The Barun just seemed to glide over my face without cutting any hair at all. I had to finish my shave with a blade.

Build quality and ergonomics

You can apply a bit of liquid soap on the foils, let it run for a bit, then just rinse it with warm tap water and you’re all set. Because.. If you ask me, intuitively, I’d have to say that going from one motor to two would be more impactful than going from 4 blades to 5!

This could be a very compelling reason to buy the Arc 4 with a cleaning station, despite the fact that it’s not absolutely necessary as the shaver is very easy to clean manually. A typical Braun cleaning process takes around 3 minutes and during this time the shaver is switched on and off and the cleaning solution is flushed through the shaving head, removing any hairs and dirt. The Arc 4 comes in several variants in the USA and only one of them includes a cleaning station, the ES-LA93-K.There’s no travel pouch in the box, which would have been nice to have, but even so, the bundle is pretty good for the price. Battery life and charging

If you take a shower or wash your face right before shaving, it will likely have a negative aspect on the quality of the shave. You should be aware that out of all the models, this one has the bulkiest head. While the cutting elements have the same size, the plastic frame surrounding them is more bulbous. Speaking of which, the Arc 4 tends to get warm during use, particularly the slit trimmer. It’s also more aggressive if you press harder and go over an area repeatedly. For more details, you can read a comprehensive comparison between all the different Series 9 variations here. This shaving system also comes with an automatic cleaning and charging station. It will clean and dry your shaver to keep the blades sharp for longer. The unit cleans then dries the shaver. Once that's done, the charging will begin. It's all done without you having to lift a finger. However, Braun’s trimmers seem to be rather dull and you have to go over an area many times to get all the hairs. It does the job of cleaning well, but I am personally not a big fan of this station: it is very bulky, noisy and you don’t really need it. It’s compact and lightweight and the shaving head is slimmer than most 3-blade razors from Panasonic, making it ideal for beginners as well. To be perfectly honest, there aren’t that many hybrid models out there that manage to perform satisfactorily both as shavers and as beard trimmers.
