About this deal

FUNDRAISER: [gestures with cigarette for emphasis] I was proud as hell to work for a single woman, I'll tell you that. Don’t get me wrong. Margot Robbie is no slouch as what the movie calls “Stereotypical Barbie” — the blond bombshell that kids in Mattel focus groups point to when presented with diverse Barbie dolls and asked, “Which one is Barbie?” Stereotypical Barbie starts the movie as a confident woman who knows exactly who she is, and doesn’t ever want anything to change. She lives in Barbieland, a fantasy realm conjured by Mattel that’s powered by the imaginations of kids who play with Barbie dolls. It’s a world ruled by Barbies, and unashamed of traditional feminine tropes. The president is a Barbie (played by Issa Rae, in a pink silk “President” sash). The Supreme Court is all Barbie. And every Nobel Prize winner in history is — you guessed it — a Barbie. Every pink-washed DreamHouse mansion in Barbieland is owned by a woman who makes her own money and spends her free time indulging in “girls’ nights” where everybody shares a glorious communal wardrobe.

Barbie was the brainchild of Ruth Handler, co-founder (with her husband Elliot) of the toy company Mattel, Inc. Inspired by watching their daughter play with make-believe paper dolls of adult women, Handler realized there was an unfilled niche in the market for a toy that allowed little girls to imagine the future. The high ponytail, the pink, the bow — you were a true Barbie last night. What Barbie were you channeling?CAMPAIGN MANAGER: Oh. My. God. That "is she electable?" thing. Voter Barbie said that same thing in every focus group. But, like...she is LITERALLY THE ONLY VOTER. Telling stories with my Barbies, honestly. I used to get them into so much mess and I was creating my own little soap operas — I was having the Barbies sleep around. Honestly, I think Barbies were the early makings of some of the Insecure storylines. I didn’t know at the time, but they helped me to develop that. But Barbie stays one step ahead of that thought, because it’s all leading up to an expert commentary on how little girls will always realize, sooner or later, that the real world is run by men, and that its Kens have more power than its Barbies. And once Gosling’s Ken makes it to Reality, he realizes this too, and he goes full men’s rights activist, transitioning from Barbie’s placeholder boyfriend into one of the most fascinating antagonists in modern pop cinema.

CANDIDATE BARBIE: I've been running for president since before you media people even took women candidates seriously. I've been different races, different ethnicities — I've tried to break all sorts of barriers. I've been running for president since before a lot of those bigtime politicians, of any gender or race, even got into politics. You’ve said you wish you would’ve stolen stuff from President Barbie’s oval office. What was in there that had you saying, yeah I need this ? Issa who plays President Barbie in Barbie NYT Crossword Clue Answers are listed below. Did you came up with a solution that did not solve the clue? No worries the correct answers are below. When you see multiple answers, look for the last one because that’s the most recent.

IR: If this were my movie that I had made myself, I would be terrified! I'm terrified of hype and I like people to go in with no expectations for things that I do. But given that it's not [mine], and I have so much faith in Greta, and obviously I've seen [the movie], I'm just excited that people are excited. But I still maintain that I think people should go in with no expectations because people all have their thoughts and desires of what Barbie and the Barbie movie should be, and I feel like it'll either meet those expectations or give you something completely different. It's just best to go in with an open mind. FUNDRAISER BARBIE: See, we had that sweet Mattel money, but we needed small-dollar donations. I had to show Voter Barbie that Candidate Barbie has grassroots support. So yeah, I pumped Voter Barbie for donations. A lot.

Stereotypical Barbie has no reason to leave this beautiful feminine realm. She’s forced to trek into the harsh world of Reality only because somewhere, someone is playing with her while experiencing such intense existential angst that their emotions are reaching Barbieland and drilling into Barbie’s psyche. Her real-world owner is inadvertently causing her to think about death, get actual cellulite on her thighs, and even develop articulated ankles that experience all-too-real pain when she stuffs her feet into stiletto heels. Rae is the first to admit that even having grown into her childhood Business Barbie ambitions – as a CEO, a business owner, a movie mogul and a mentor to others – she’s “still learning the lessons”. She knows what she wants, though, and that’s not “bossy” or “insecure”. That’s confident leadership. Barbie® doll wears a full, satiny gown that features a sparkly off-shoulder bodice and shimmery gold accents that trail down her skirt. IR: I always think about dying, all the time. That is just a daily thought. So the being alive and the appreciating and the not being limited and the opportunity — I've always kind of shared that sentiment. But there was something so interesting about watching this doll, who's been confined to this environment and not knowing anything else, decide to not be a part of that, decide to free herself from that. There's something so beautiful [about that] that made me a bit emotional, [Barbie] just experiencing life for the first time. It was so childlike and there's such a childlike innocence that we forget that we once had. It made me appreciate so many of the moments that I cherish in my own life and what's to come. I always think about how there's little time left, but I have to be appreciative of the time that I just have, period.CANDIDATE BARBIE: Beyond "I'll create jobs," I said nothing of substance. But I have political views! I swear I do! For example- [campaign manager lunges at her, clamps hand over her mouth. Both fall to floor, wrestle for 30 seconds.] I was trying to channel a presidential Barbie and worked with Wouri to like set the tone for that. For him, I know it was more of an inspiration of Barbie throughout the decades. There were little pieces of the dress that represented the different looks for Barbie over the years. It just made me feel like President Barbie on the carpet. The pink and the velvet almost gave it a change of royalty that I love.
