About this deal

loop tells the computer to repeat the code under it. player.onChat("square", function () { I've read quite a few Littell novels and I've always been puzzled with their inconsistency. He's written one of the books on my 'favorites of all time' shelf, The Company, but the rest of his output is up and down. As for Court himself, I liked him. He is a genuine guy with ‘a heart of gold’….a fact which we are reminded a little too much about throughout the novel. He was easy to like and his intentions were honorable but again, I didn’t like being told that on a regular basis. There is a reason the Gray Man is a highly sought after contract professional killer. He is a brilliant, top notch operative that is simply a fabulously developed character. Never a dull moment, you will always be guessing about what he will do next. As for the moment when he knew for sure that he was really going to walk away from the Clancy stuff to focus on his own series and projects, Greaney said he informed his editor over lunch.

Why should we not boycott the Soviet Union and its supporters inside the country? If we do so, we can force them to review their stand. Either they give us what we want and what is necessary, or they will lose our friendship.” – Hafez Al – Assad.

While completely snowed in Friday afternoon, thanks to ‘Snowmageddon 2018’, I was able to reach New York Times bestselling author Mark Greaney by telephone from my home office here in southwest Michigan.

Fans of RPG, Hong Kong action films, and high-octane storytelling will love the Gray Man, who battles full-bore through this fast-paced series."-- The Washington Post I’m one of those people that really really really loves government thrillers, military operatives, spy novels, and conspiracy stories. Admittedly I haven’t read a lot of classic ‘spy novels’ but secretly my dream job would be international spy master or CIA operative. Greaney also explained that this book is different from previous books because “Court’s motivations are different this time out. He has new allies and new enemies, and you’ll meet some new characters you can expect to see in later installments.” It hit number eleven in hardcover and number ten on e-book,” Greaney told me, before launching into a funny and touching story involving his elderly aunt. I told my editor after my sixth book that it might be time for me to hang it up,” confessed Greaney. “The truth is that I was afraid I was going to run out of things to do.The next day, Court and Abdul, as well as other prisoners, were brought to a lake to be executed one by one by their captors. When it became his turn to be executed, Court manages to break free and then kills his executioners, while Abdul and the other prisoners disable their guards. Court and Abdul were then rescued by the Special Forces unit, who tell them that Azzam had died from his gunshot wound. Robert Littell writes very knowledgeably and convincingly about CIA vs. KGB espionage. Reading a Littell novel is kind of like watching a chess game, with the CIA spymasters on one side of the board and the KGB spymasters on the other side. But the focus of the stories is on the chess pieces: the human beings whose lives are often profoundly affected by the spymasters' machinations. As Greaney touched on in this interview, Gentry is free to take assignments from the CIA or do his own thing. In Agent in Place, he’s on his own after accepting a job from a group of well-connected Syrian expats. Court goes after the baby, a decision that comes at the price of the mistress's life. The expat organisation deems the boy now useless to their cause and refuses to protect him against the Syrian first lady and the notorious Swiss assassin in her employ, a rather nasty character, with no support on the way, Court realise's he'll have to take down the Syrian president himself if he and the boy and the nanny are going to make it out alive... Once again Court is called upon, as they need him to go to Syria and snatch the child. Now, who would be crazy enough to go to Syria and snatch the son of the president? Well, that would be Court Gentry, who is not a typical man, and has abilities that most could only dream about.

Finally, we have Yasmin. Yasmin is the Nanny of the boy Gentry is trying to recover. She may be a secondary character but is a critical component to Gentry’s plan. Despite being a civilian with no combat training, having worked for very violent men, she shows surprising ice-cold nerves and common sense when the strange American barges into her life and makes off with her and her charge in a Hyundai Sonata across Damascus. Avoiding all of the aggravating hysterical woman tropes, Yasmin is a great secondary character, and one who has a surprising and unexpected past, being witness to one of the Levanter’s great betrayals of a dear friend. Plus,” he added, “the marketing people at the publishing house weighed in and said they liked the fact that Gunmetal Gray, or titles with multiple words on the cover, gives you more print size on each word. They asked me if I could come up with a longer title, which happened right at the point where I was thinking to myself that ‘Weaponized’ sounds like a cool name, but has nothing to do with the book.” Constructive criticism? There was a major editing error. Drexler in the story is given a gun. Officially a Beretta 92 Inox, it in fact has the specs of the Taurus PT 92, specifically the latter’s 17 round magazine which the original 92 models did not possess. Forget about solving all these crimes; the signal triumph here is (spoiler) the heroine’s survival. The author researched for the novel on location in Paris, France and did some research on the Syrian Civil War. Greaney points out that Agent in Place is different from previous Gray Man novels: “Court’s motivations are different this time out. He has new allies and new enemies, and you’ll meet some new characters you can expect to see in later installments.” He furthermore stated, “It’s a spy novel and an action novel, but at its core, it’s a story about valor and vengeance, and the perseverance of the human spirit despite the horrors of war.” [2] Reception [ edit ] Commercial [ edit ] The audiobook version of Agent in Place is performed by Jay Snyder, just like all the other books in this awesome series. He is the perfect narrator to give life to Court Gentry. Jay fills the listener with a sense of urgency and keeps him glued to the earbuds for hours on end. If you choose the audiobook, you will find yourself immersed in Court’s adventures, ignoring phone calls, people talking around and with you and forgetting that you still had some work scheduled, at least that was what happened to me in the 4 days it took me to finish the book. Court goes after the baby, a decision that comes at the price of the mistress’s life. The expat organization deems the boy now useless to their cause and refuses to protect him against the Syrian first lady and the notorious Swiss assassin in her employ. With no support on the way, Court realizes he’ll have to take down the Syrian president himself if he and the boy are going to make it out alive…
